For 3 days, from June 29 to July 1, the journey "Youth for the sea and islands of the homeland" in 2023 was held at the Naval Region 4 Command (Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa). Many meaningful and practical activities of Ho Chi Minh City youth were organized here.
"Youth for the sea and islands of the homeland" in 2023 is a program organized by the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives Youth Union in coordination with the Saigon Transport Mechanical Corporation Limited Liability Company Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Financial Investment Company Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute Youth Union, and Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper Youth Union, at the 101st Marine Brigade - Naval Region 4 Command (Khanh Hoa).
Here, more than 160 union members and young people offered incense and learned about the Gac Ma soldiers memorial site; visited the Traditional House of the 101st Marine Brigade and units under the 101st Brigade; participated in thematic activities, listened to reports on the work of protecting sea and island sovereignty in the current situation; visited units in Naval Region 4...
The delegation also organized an exhibition of images of Uncle Ho with the homeland's sea and islands; an exhibition of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa; exchange and twinning activities with officers, soldiers, and youth union members at the 101st Marine Brigade, Naval Region 4 Command; participated in the activity "Experience being a Navy soldier", sports, football, swimming exchange activities; cultural and artistic exchanges...
The Youth Union organized the contest "Youth with the sea and islands of the homeland" to raise awareness and understanding of young people about the position and role of the sea and islands in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; thereby arousing patriotism, national pride, and awareness of protecting Vietnam's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In particular, during the program, the delegation organized many practical volunteer activities for the community: examining and giving medicine to 200 people; donating 2.5 tons of rice and giving gifts of necessities to 200 people in difficult circumstances in Cam Ranh; giving gifts of gratitude to 20 policy families; mobile sales program to serve people...
In addition, the Youth Union also implemented the Solar Energy Road Project at Brigade 101 worth 60 million VND; planted trees for youth... The total cost of the program is nearly 200 million VND.

Ms. Bui Thi To Nhu, member of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives, said that the program was organized to raise the sense of responsibility of the city's youth union members about the sovereignty of the sea and islands; at the same time, educate the love of the sea and islands, the love of the homeland and the country; continue to effectively implement the program "For the homeland's sea and islands - For the Fatherland's borders" that has been implemented for many years. The program also strengthened the solidarity between the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union bases and officers and soldiers at the Naval Region 4 Command, through exchange activities as an educational basis to raise awareness, capacity to mobilize the masses, awareness of law compliance, and responsibility of citizens in the task of building and protecting the Fatherland. The activities are highly educational and oriented.
“This journey has been maintained since 2016 by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Youth Union units. This year's journey brings many values, not only to the youth union members of the Youth Union bases but also brings practical values to the community. For the youth union members, you will learn more and understand more about the work of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, understand more about the navy soldiers, and have more confidence in the current work of protecting sovereignty. This is an opportunity for young people from many units operating in different fields, in many different localities to have the opportunity to connect and join hands to carry out community activities in the extremely meaningful 2023 summer volunteer campaign. Hopefully, this journey in the coming years will have more companionship and cooperation from the Youth Union units and young people to spread the love for the sea and islands of the homeland", Ms. To Nhu shared.

Within the framework of the journey, the Delegation organized a special art program, with 15 singing and dancing performances praising the glorious Party, beloved Uncle Ho, love for the homeland, the solidarity between the army and the people, the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, praising the image of soldiers, the aspirations of the youth... Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City expressed: "The art program is a meaningful spiritual gift that artists of units under the Department's Youth Union invested in and performed to encourage the navy soldiers to continue to promote tradition, strive to study, train to complete their tasks and be worthy of the title "Uncle Ho's Soldiers". The program also deeply propagates and educates the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, arousing the pride and sense of responsibility of young people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. In addition, the exhibition "Youth with the homeland's sea and islands" organized by the Department of Youth introduces 40 display frames with 152 documents and images on 3 main topics: History of Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos; map of the two island districts of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa and activities to protect Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty in the current period.
