At the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, from February 25-28, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon paid an official visit to Vietnam and attended the second ASEAN Future Forum.
During the visit, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited and interacted with staff, lecturers and students of the Foreign Trade University (Hanoi). Also attending the program was Minister of Education and Training (MOET) Nguyen Kim Son.
New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Vietnam's Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between universities of Vietnam and New Zealand.
At the Foreign Trade University, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son witnessed the signing of five memorandums of understanding between universities from Vietnam and New Zealand.
The memorandums of understanding demonstrate the determination and commitment of higher education institutions to building an international learning environment for students with excellent development opportunities.
Within the framework of the talks between New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in the presence of the two Prime Ministers, representatives of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and representatives of the Council of New Zealand Universities signed a Cooperation Agreement on doctoral training for lecturers of Vietnamese higher education institutions.
Mr. Pham Quang Hung, Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Education and Training) and representatives of the New Zealand University Council presented the Cooperation Agreement.
Under this Agreement, bilateral cooperation includes providing doctoral training programs at member schools of the New Zealand Universities Council for Project 89 scholars; providing master's training programs at member schools of the New Zealand Universities Council in the fields of culture, arts, physical education and sports for Project 89 scholars; doctoral training programs in conjunction with Vietnamese training institutions within the framework of Project 89; research and academic exchanges.
Universities New Zealand member institutions will work closely with New Zealand government agencies and the Department of International Affairs to facilitate the admissions process and support the nomination, reception and management of Project 89 scholars.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training has been implementing a Scholarship Program to improve the capacity of lecturers and managers of higher education institutions (Project 89), including full-time training abroad and joint training between Vietnamese universities and foreign universities that meet regional and world quality standards for doctoral degrees in all fields and master's degrees in culture, arts, physical education and sports.
