The project to expand and upgrade Duong Quang Ham Street has a total investment cost of 2,300 billion VND, of which compensation and resettlement support costs are about 1,500 billion VND.

The project started in late 2019 but had to be suspended after only 9 months of construction due to land acquisition issues. The project was restarted in August 2023, but to date, this 2.5km long road has yet to be completed.

According to Dan Viet reporter, after construction period, the project is still in disarray.

At the construction site, workers and machinery are implementing project items.

Notably, dozens of electric poles are blocking Duong Quang Ham Street, causing people to worry about traffic safety in the area.

img

As observed, many power cable systems are tangled right on the road.

Mr. Nguyen Minh (residing in Go Vap district) said: "Some roads have been paved, some are still under construction. The scariest thing is the electric poles lying right in the middle of the road. If you don't pay attention, an accident is a piece of cake."

The Ho Chi Minh City Power Distribution Project Management Board said that there are currently 76 power poles along the entire route that cannot be relocated. On February 21, the investor of the Duong Quang Ham Street expansion project handed over enough land to the unit to construct the underground power grid. The electricity industry has pulled underground cables, prepared to convert the power grid from above ground to underground, and connected residential power lines to the underground grid. It is expected that by the end of March 2025, the power poles on the road will be recovered and relocated and handed over to the project investor.

Once completed, the project to expand and upgrade Duong Quang Ham Street will solve traffic congestion, improve exploitation efficiency, improve urban beautification, and better serve the travel needs of local people.
