Confidently run the "Children's Parliament"

As soon as we met, Dang Cat Tien made a strong impression on me with her height of 1m72, agile figure, bright face and constant smile on her lips. Cat Tien is the Chairwoman of the "Children's National Assembly" at the mock session taking place from September 9-10, 2023 in Hanoi. Recalling this honor, Cat Tien shared: "I feel lucky and proud to have the opportunity to attend the mock session of the Children's National Assembly, especially when I was chosen as Chairwoman of the National Assembly".

To become one of the three representatives of Khanh Hoa province to attend the mock meeting of the “Children’s National Assembly”, Cat Tien went through a rigorous selection process. Participating in a large-scale activity for the first time and being selected as the Chairwoman of the “Children’s National Assembly” made this female student nervous and anxious. She spent a lot of time carefully studying the contents related to children, the guidelines, policies and laws of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government in implementing children’s rights and the Law on Children.

Recalling that time, Cat Tien said that she had watched the National Assembly sessions on Vietnam Television very carefully to grasp the content and how to run a session. In particular, the topics discussed at the hypothetical “Children’s National Assembly” session were “Prevention of accidents, injuries, violence, and child abuse” and “Protecting children to interact healthily and creatively on the Internet” which she had also researched very carefully beforehand.

As the Chairman of the “Children’s National Assembly” at this session, Cat Tien proposed the idea of ​​“using technology to rule technology”, strongly applying and further spreading information filtering software for children on cyberspace, avoiding the situation where children using cyberspace are “poisoned” by widespread bad information. “I believe that the opinions on the spot and discussions with valid opinions around children’s lives on the above two topics will be of interest to the leaders, resolved and there will be appropriate policies in the future”, Cat Tien said.

All-round good team leader

Cat Tien said that since she was a child, she has participated in skill training activities such as: public speaking, playing musical instruments, singing, swimming, participating in team activities... Thanks to that, she has accumulated a lot of knowledge and skills as well as used them as provisions for participating in the following activities. Cat Tien shared her study secret: "For me, studying is only effective when I have passion. In class, I try to listen to lectures to grasp basic knowledge in the lessons. At home, I arrange my time to complete exercises in the book and do more advanced exercises. Thanks to this method, it has helped me manage my time better so that I can participate in many movements while still ensuring my studies."

In addition to English, Cat Tien also loves to explore science, learn about Biology, Physics, History, Geography, etc. She studies well in both natural sciences and social sciences. Ms. Phan Thi Thao Uyen - Principal of Thai Nguyen Secondary School, said: Cat Tien is an excellent student of the school, with excellent achievements when continuously leading the grades 6, 7, 8. Tien has many collective activity skills, helping the team activities and movements of the school achieve many high results. She has also been assigned to be the Team Leader of Thai Nguyen Secondary School, Team Commander and MC for the school's activities.

Ms. Phan Thi Thao Uyen - Principal of Thai Nguyen Secondary School, said: "Cat Tien has a very high spirit of self-study. The knowledge Cat Tien has acquired is very "massive" compared to her age. Cat Tien is also a good student and knows how to arrange her time between studying and actively participating in the Team work as well as other cultural, sports and artistic activities of the school".

Besides theory, Cat Tien is always interested in learning and applying knowledge into practice. Cat Tien has registered to participate in many competitions held at school, city, provincial and central levels to test its abilities. Thanks to that, Cat Tien has achieved many admirable achievements in these competitions such as: First prize in the National Young Historian Competition 2021; Second prize in the National Reading Culture Ambassador Competition 2021; First prize in the English competition for provincial team leaders; won the title of "Brave Hero of a Thousand Good Deeds" at the provincial level in 2023; First prize in storytelling in the "Uncle Ho's Immense Love" provincial level competition 2020...

Wish to help poor children

Cat Tien has set many goals related to English. In the near future, Cat Tien hopes to become the best student in English at the city and provincial levels and further, win an English Olympic medal. “In the current era, the trend of global citizens is that using English to communicate and solve problems is very important. Therefore, I have set many goals related to English. Besides, I also focus on studying natural sciences and social sciences to fully grasp knowledge and become an intelligent person,” Cat Tien shared.

From September 9 to 10, 2023, the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers presided over and coordinated with the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education and the National Assembly Office to organize the first mock session of the "Children's National Assembly" in 2023 with the participation of 263 child delegates from 63 provinces and cities nationwide. The program aims to implement the 2016 Law on Children, concretize the national action program for children for the period 2021 - 2030; continue to implement activities to promote children's rights to participate in children's issues.
