According to the Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch (Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department), from the beginning of 2024 to now, the Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch has completed customs clearance procedures for over 15,000 imported cars, a decrease of more than 33% compared to the same period last year.

On April 3, the Ro-ro ship MONZA, Liberian nationality, with a length of 176m, DWT 12,303T carrying thousands of cars docked at Saigon - Hiep Phuoc Port.

At Saigon – Hiep Phuoc Port, the Ro-ro ship MONZA unloaded 1,102 Mitsubishi cars, the rest of the ship continued its journey to Hai Phong port to unload.

Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch quickly cleared more than 1,000 cars according to 7 customs declarations, collecting over 172 billion VND from special consumption tax and VAT to the state budget.

According to Deputy Head of Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch Bui Tan Nam, in the same period of 2023, Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch cleared nearly 21,500 cars, but this year, the number of imported cars to the port has decreased sharply, significantly affecting the unit's state budget revenue.

Accordingly, by the end of the first quarter of 2023, Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch cleared imported goods with a turnover of over 278 million USD, down more than 45% over the same period last year; the amount of tax collected to the state budget was over 3,600 billion VND, reaching 13.62% of the 2024 ordinance target, down nearly 55% over the same period.

According to Mr. Nam, it is expected that this weekend, a cargo ship carrying about 3,000 cars will arrive at the Saigon Central Container Port in Hiep Phuoc. It is expected that from now until the end of the year, the amount of goods cleared through the port, especially imported cars, will be abundant, increasing revenue, helping the department complete the budget revenue target for 2024 with 26,200 billion VND.
