On the afternoon of March 12, at the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Minister Nguyen Kim Son received the Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Choi Youngsam.
At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Kim Son and Mr. Choi Youngsam discussed and agreed on a number of issues and contents that both sides wish to promote cooperation in the field of education and training between Vietnam and Korea.

Accordingly, the two sides shared the good, strong and increasingly growing friendship between Vietnam and Korea in many fields, including education and training. Currently, the cooperative relationship between the two countries has been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership - the highest level.
Sharing some specific results in educational and training cooperation between the two countries, Ambassador Choi Youngsam said: In recent times, we have witnessed an impressive number of Vietnamese students studying in Korea and Korean students studying in Vietnam; up to now, the number of Vietnamese students is ranked first in Korea. The number of Vietnamese people registering for the Korean language certificate exam has also increased rapidly over the years, to date reaching about 60,000 people. Korean language training in Vietnam is increasingly expanding, up to now, there are 79 primary and secondary schools in Vietnam that teach Korean.

To continue promoting educational cooperation between Vietnam and Korea, Ambassador Choi Youngsam suggested that the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training pay attention to supporting the Korean Education Representative Office in Vietnam (established in 2020, ending its term of operation in November 2025) to extend its term of operation to make more contributions to promoting cooperation between the two countries; continue to pay attention to appraising and soon issuing Korean textbooks for teaching in primary and secondary schools in Vietnam; pay attention to considering Korean language certificates to be used for exemption from the exam in Vietnam's High School Graduation Exam; consider supporting the continuation of a number of ODA projects in the field of vocational education previously implemented by the Korean side with the focal point being the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs...
Affirming the desire for further promotion of educational and training cooperation between Vietnam and Korea in the future, Minister Nguyen Kim Son discussed a number of specific issues with the Korean Ambassador to Vietnam.

According to the Minister, Korea is a country with strengths and a lot of experience in digital transformation, especially in the field of education. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training hopes that the Korean side will continue to support digital transformation programs and projects, organize training courses, conferences and seminars to exchange expertise in technology application and improve the capacity of education management teams and university lecturers.
The Minister hopes that in the coming time, the Korean side will build a number of new projects on science and technology to connect universities of the two countries, especially in the fields of semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence, transportation... Promote the participation of businesses in the training process and place orders with universities.
Thanking the Korean side for coordinating the pilot implementation of Korean language teaching in Vietnamese high schools, the Minister requested the Korean side to continue supporting the compilation of Korean language textbooks according to the new general education program, supporting native teachers, training teachers, developing learning materials, cultural exchanges, and twinning between high schools and universities.

Regarding Vietnamese students studying in Korea, the Minister suggested that the Korean side strengthen close coordination between the two sides in exchanging, providing information, data and the study situation of international students, especially those who come to Korea on a self-funded basis.
At the reception, Korean Ambassador Choi Youngsam respectfully invited Minister Nguyen Kim Son to visit Korea and attend the APEC Education Ministers' Meeting (in Korea, May 2025). Minister Nguyen Kim Son thanked the Ambassador and said he would respond soon.
