EACH PERSON CHOOSES A SUITABLE SPORT TO PRACTICE
In February 2025, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued a Plan to organize the Month of Sports Activities for Everyone and the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day for the Health of All People in the province in 2025. This is an annual activity that Lam Dong has maintained very well in recent years with the goal of mobilizing all classes of people, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the province to participate in sports training, responding to the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the Movement "Healthy to start a business and defend the country" among young people, contributing to improving health to serve study, work, production, construction and defense of the Fatherland.
The month of physical education and sports activities for everyone and the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people also aim to raise public awareness of the role and effects of physical education and sports in protecting and improving health, improving the quality of life, building a healthy lifestyle and cultural environment, contributing to strengthening the great national unity. And no less importantly, this is an opportunity to encourage all people in the province to choose for themselves a suitable sport to practice every day in order to create a habit of reasonable exercise throughout life to protect and improve health.
According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong, the mass sports movement in the province in 2024 continued to be maintained and had new developments. Up to now, the proportion of Lam Dong people who regularly practice sports has reached 37.2% of the population; the number of sports families has reached 29.6%.
Many types of sports continue to develop strongly, sports clubs, sports federations, sports associations from provincial to commune and neighborhood levels have been established. The whole province currently has 12 federations, 4 provincial sports associations, 40 district-level associations and branches and over 1,215 sports clubs in many disciplines that are maintaining very good activities.
In 2024, there were over 1,000 sports tournaments in 27 disciplines organized from the grassroots to provincial levels for most ages of men and women, from children to middle-aged and elderly people, and people with disabilities; attracting over 120,000 athletes to participate, basically meeting the training and competition needs of the people.
ENSURING QUALITY, SAFETY AND HIGH EFFICIENCY
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police; People's Committees of districts and cities in the province to develop plans and provide guidance on organizing the Sports Activity Month and the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day 2025, sports activities for people, integrating with the Sports Congress in localities and units as well as mobilizing social resources to contribute to the organization of sports activities and the Olympic Running Day 2025 in units and localities.
The province requires the two cities of Da Lat and Bao Loc and districts in the province to organize sports activities for everyone and the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people in Lam Dong province in 2025, combined with the organization of Sports Festivals at all levels from commune to district level. Communes, wards and towns in the province, depending on the actual situation and conditions of the locality, can combine to organize the Sports Activities Month and the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day in 2025, ensuring the organization is smooth, high quality, safe and highly effective. Each district and city can choose 1 typical commune, ward or town to organize at the district level.
The Education and Training sector, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police and agencies and organizations mobilize forces, encourage organizations and businesses to participate; combine with other suitable sports events or organize separate sports activities and the Launching Ceremony of the 2025 Olympic Running Day at agencies and units.
The whole province strives to have 95% of commune-level administrative units organize sports activities and the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day in 2025; mobilize at least 20% of the population to participate in the Olympic Running Day. Depending on the actual situation, agencies, units and localities should promote initiative in organizing; it is possible to combine the organization of sports festivals at the commune and district levels with the organization of sports activities and the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day in 2025 with a minimum accompanying running route of 1 km.
Localities and units can organize running competitions between blocks or combine them with mass sports competitions. After the running sessions are over, units and localities can organize sports activities and mass sports competitions such as cross-country, volleyball, tug of war, pole pushing, ethnic sports or sports within the framework of the sports festival at the unit or locality.
Units and localities need to do a good job of communicating about the role and effects of physical training in protecting and improving the health, physical strength and stature of Vietnamese people; promoting typical collectives and individuals in implementing the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" - good people and good deeds; promoting the preparation for organizing the Sports and Physical Training Month and the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day in 2025 on mass media.
Based on actual conditions, localities and units should organize mass sports activities to celebrate the Sports and Physical Training Month and the Olympic Running Day Launching Ceremony in March 2025; Encourage the simultaneous organization of the Olympic Running Day Launching Ceremony in 2025 at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025 in communes, wards, towns, agencies, units, schools, and public places at the commune level convenient for gathering people to participate.
At the provincial level, Lam Dong chose Bao Loc City as the venue for the 2025 Olympic Running Day Launch Ceremony this year, organized by the Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People's Committee of Bao Loc City and the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union.
