According to the Department of Business Registration Management (Ministry of Planning and Investment), the business registration situation in 2023 continues to be a bright spot in the overall picture of the Vietnamese economy. Although the number of newly registered businesses in the first quarter of 2023 decreased (33,905 businesses, down 2% compared to the same period in 2022), it was still 1.02 times higher than the average quarterly level in the period 2017 - 2022 (33,191 businesses).
In the following quarters, the Government and the Prime Minister have directed decisively and promptly, issuing many policies and solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles for the business community and production and business activities. The number of newly registered enterprises has had an impressive recovery momentum, always at over 40,000 enterprises, the highest quarterly level ever. In the fourth quarter of 2023, there were 42,952 newly established enterprises, an increase of 20.2% over the same period in 2022, 1.3 times higher than the average quarterly level in the period 2017 - 2022.
The number of newly registered enterprises in 2023 (159,294 enterprises, up 7.2% over the same period in 2022) reached a record high for the first time, nearly 160,000 enterprises. This figure is 1.2 times higher than the average level in the period 2017 - 2022 and up 4.6% compared to the estimated implementation for the whole year of 2023. In addition, the number of enterprises returning to operation in 2023 reached 58,412 enterprises. Thereby contributing to the number of enterprises entering and re-entering the market continuing to exceed 200,000 enterprises (217,706 enterprises), up 4.5% over the same period in 2022 and 1.3 times higher than the number of enterprises withdrawing from the market in the past year.
The total newly registered capital of enterprises entering the market has improved over the quarters of 2023: VND 310,331 billion in the first quarter; VND 397,126 billion in the second quarter; VND 379,319 billion in the third quarter and the fourth quarter has increased to VND 434,483 billion.
