Young master passionate about agricultural development, digitizing each fruit tree

Within the framework of Youth Month 2023, commemorating the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Master Dang Duong Minh Hoang (born in 1988, Binh Phuoc province) shared with Lao Dong about the support program, motivation, experience, knowledge, skills... for businesses, farmers, and young entrepreneurs across the country.

Mr. Hoang is currently the Director of Binh Phuoc Digital Agricultural Service Cooperative and was selected by the Central Youth Union to be the Chairman and operator of the national Luong Dinh Cua network - a common home for outstanding young farmers across the country.

Since its inception on November 3, 2011, the network has organized dozens of programs to impart knowledge and skills to thousands of young entrepreneurs nationwide.

Mr. Hoang also owns the Ong Hoang Avocado brand and other fruit trees, pioneering in building growing area codes for fruit trees, building OCOP products to elevate Vietnamese agricultural products.

The cooperative has been improving production processes, optimizing resources, committing to clean and green products, and protecting consumers.

According to Mr. Hoang, in agriculture, digital transformation is an “unmissable train”. The motto and goal of the cooperative is to digitize the garden, each tree is a website, an electronic diary. This is to make the history of crops and livestock transparent.

He said that clean eating is a trend that people are aiming for, especially hunting for organic agricultural products. When consumers buy products, through the QR code, they will know which day the product was watered, fertilized, harvested, and how it was transported.

"If our organic agricultural products do not or do not practice digital agriculture, we will lose many opportunities to connect with consumers as well as create trust in the product and build a brand," Mr. Hoang emphasized.

Mr. Hoang's method is also implementing digital transformation in the garden, combining many modern farming equipment such as drones, smart irrigation equipment... Besides controlling inputs, Mr. Hoang combines establishing cooperatives to transform digital agriculture.

In the cooperative, Mr. Hoang gathered typical advanced farmers so that when implementing product consumption for farmers, it would reduce the intermediary step.

Instead of farmers selling through warehouses and warehouses selling through middlemen, now farmers only need to sell directly to cooperatives, or sell to domestic supermarkets or export to international markets.

In addition, Mr. Hoang's cooperative also coordinates with the national network to open forums and talk shows to inspire and connect supply and demand for farmers' agricultural products.

Mr. Hoang also shared that the cooperative's revenue is expected to reach more than 100 billion VND and its profit will reach more than 15% in 2023. This will create jobs for 25 regular workers (mainly ethnic minorities of the S'tieng and Khmer) and 10 seasonal workers. At the same time, maintaining a high growth rate, the target of officially exporting fruit trees, the revenue next year will double the previous year.

Not only that, he also created sustainable livelihood models. In particular, he supported people to invest in barns with 50% of the cost to raise cows and goats; people will contribute the remaining 50%. From there, it helps people have more income from raising cows and goats, and he will have a source of compost to fertilize the farm, creating a circular economy.

In the coming time, Mr. Hoang hopes that in each province and city across the country, more digital agricultural service cooperatives similar to those in Binh Phuoc can be established to work together to build a Vietnamese agricultural product brand that can be named on the global agricultural product map.

With his initiatives and contributions, Mr. Hoang has achieved many successes such as: Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer Award in 2022 of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; Luong Dinh Cua Award in 2021; Title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Young Family" in 2022 of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union; First Prize of the "Green Startup Wings" Contest in 2022...
