This is a vast space at Thien Nong farm in Phu Van commune, Bu Gia Map border district, Binh Phuoc province. The owner is Mr. Dang Duong Minh Hoang (born in 1988), a young man who studied abroad.
Thien Nong Farm is 50 hectares wide, including 30 hectares of rubber planted around it as an organic buffer zone, the core area has 8 hectares of pepper trees and notably 12 hectares of avocado grown according to VietGAP and AseanGAP standards.
The strength of this farm is the application of automation in production to manage the farming process, helping to reduce costs while maintaining productivity, consistent product quality and safety.
First, the farm uses rooftop solar power to actively irrigate the garden, the excess electricity is sold back to the state; Camera system monitors the entire garden.
Mr. Hoang and his colleagues also researched the AutoAgri app based on the IoT platform (internet of things) combining sensors to measure humidity, temperature, pH, and light. Based on self-analysis of plant health status, the app gives appropriate instructions to provide the appropriate amount of water and fertilizer to each plant.
In addition, the farm uses a sprayer with a tank of about 1,000 liters that can wash off off-season rainwater that contains acid or spray pesticides. This vehicle can spray 10-15 hectares in the morning with just one driver and has a surveillance camera.
This is a model area of water storage tanks to serve the automatic drip irrigation system. This model is very special, few farms can build such a system.
Each avocado tree and each avocado fruit are attached with a QR code (digital diary) by Mr. Hoang.
Just scan the code with your smartphone and all information from fertilization, harvest date and time, means of transportation to stores, supermarkets, product standards, etc. will be transparent.
At the same time, Mr. Hoang also develops product marketing on social networks and e-commerce markets.
On average, each year, a 7-8 year old Ong Hoang avocado tree can harvest about 300 kg.
The avocados are shiny on the outside, moderately fatty, soft, fragrant and sweet. Currently, Ong Hoang Avocado products are not only sold in supermarkets but also exported to countries in the ASEAN region.
"Avocado, durian and other products have brought in a lot of revenue for the farm. Last year, the profit brought me more than 11 billion VND. The farm also created steady jobs for 25 ethnic minority workers with high incomes," Mr. Hoang shared.
From his successes, Mr. Hoang is also willing to share his experiences with farmers in the region. With his efforts, dedication and constant efforts, in 2022, Mr. Hoang was honored to receive the Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer Award, the Promising Young Vietnamese Face Award... In 2023, Mr. Hoang was commended as a typical example of progress in the patriotic emulation movement.
