Feedback on after-hours medical examination and treatment at Bach Mai Hospital

Out-of-hours medical examination and treatment at Bach Mai Hospital has received many positive signals from patients.

Outpatient clinic hours at Bach Mai Hospital are from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday at building K1 - Department of On-Demand Medical Examination.

The hospital has a full range of clinics and specialties during office hours including: Endocrinology, Digestive, Musculoskeletal, Neurology, Respiratory, Nephrology, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Hematology, Intensive Care, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, ENT, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, etc. All clinics are located in the same building K1, which is very convenient for people to travel.

Out-of-hours medical examination and treatment at Bach Mai Hospital has received many positive signals from patients.

According to doctors, for patients who have blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, etc., the results will be available after only 2 hours. In the case of only regular ultrasounds and X-rays, the results will be available after only 1 hour for the doctor to make a conclusion and prescribe medication.

With a wide range of medical examination hours, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday) and from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday), people will have many options and conveniently arrange their time and work to go to the doctor or take their relatives to the doctor.

According to Director of Dao Xuan Co Hospital, the Hospital has conducted bidding procedures to purchase modern medical equipment and machinery to serve professional work.

Specifically, from the beginning of 2024 until now, the Hospital has inaugurated and put into use a series of modern medical equipment systems including 4 magnetic resonance imaging machines, 3 multi-slice computed tomography machines, 19 digestive endoscopy systems, 7 endoscopic surgery systems...

All of this equipment will be purchased by the end of 2023, after a series of policies to remove difficulties for the health sector by the Government and the Ministry of Health such as Resolution 30, Circular 14 and Decree No. 07.

“With the addition of 4 MRI machines, this is the first time in history that Bach Mai Hospital has 7 MRI machines operating at the same time. Patients with MRI orders can basically have their MRIs done the same day without having to wait,” added Mr. Dao Xuan Co.

Directly examining people after hours, according to Dr. Tran Minh Thao, Deputy Head of the Department of Examination on Demand, Bach Mai Hospital, in charge of the Cardiology Clinic, the implementation of examination after hours has brought many benefits to patients, serving many subjects, meeting many requests from patients.

The cost of the examination packages remains unchanged compared to during business hours and all tests, ultrasounds, X-rays, MRIs, etc. are still performed as usual.

According to Dr. Nguyen Quoc Thai, Head of Quality Management Department, by going for an examination after hours, patients can quickly do the necessary tests and investigations without having to wait, and get immediate results, so they feel more comfortable and satisfied.

Doctors also have the necessary information to make conclusions for patients, so they feel less pressured.

It is known that since learning that Bach Mai Hospital opens medical examination hours from late afternoon to late evening, Ms. PHN in Ba Dinh district made an appointment through the hotline 1900.888.866 to check her health.

Experiencing advanced medical services and accessing a team of doctors and medical staff from reception, guidance, quick procedures to clinical tests, X-ray examinations and doctors' conclusions, she said that for busy people, the hospital's organization of after-hours medical examinations is very convenient.

Accordingly, at 5:00 p.m., Ms. N. was examined and had some tests done as prescribed. Everything went smoothly in a clean, airy space. The doctor and nurses gave their thoughtful conclusions, and I felt really reassured.

Currently, the hospital receives 6,000 - 8,000 outpatients and about 4,000 inpatients every day. Of the total number of patients, only about 20% are from Hanoi, the remaining 80% come from remote areas.

Regarding preparation, the hospital's board of directors determined that facilities and human resources are still key factors, along with the support of information technology and digital transformation applications to reduce administrative procedures, reduce waiting time, and create convenience for people.

In developed countries, people make an appointment before going to the doctor, which is very convenient for both the patient and the doctor. However, in Vietnam, not many people have the habit of making an appointment in advance, which causes local congestion at some times.

Currently, people mainly go to the clinic in the early morning. Therefore, if people register in advance, they will be guided to register and distributed evenly throughout the day.

After registering, patients will receive a confirmation message and a call from the operator to guide them to the correct specialist, doctor and time as registered.

When arriving, people can be examined immediately, without having to wait in line. The hospital will also proactively arrange appropriate medical staff, depending on the number and needs of patients.

Regarding digital transformation application, Bach Mai Hospital is determined to implement comprehensive digital transformation in accordance with the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Health.

The hospital has also implemented a multi-channel appointment booking system. Up to now, an average of 2,500 people have made appointments at Bach Mai Hospital every day.

In addition, the facility has successfully deployed the open source medical examination and treatment software HIS Pro, and is one of the few hospitals in the top of the country in terms of connecting health insurance data.

Currently, the Hospital has been applying cashless payment solutions and is in the process of gradually completing electronic medical records.

It is known that from July 8, 2024, Bach Mai Hospital will also not print out professional instructions (related to imaging and radiation) and from August will not print films. By not printing films alone, the hospital and patients can save about 30 billion VND each year.
