On February 28, Bach Mai Hospital issued a warning to people about scams in making appointments at the hospital.
According to the patient, because he needed to see a doctor for his child, he went online to search for information on "making an appointment at Bach Mai Hospital" and was taken advantage of by a scammer, who scammed him out of nearly one million VND in phone calls and appointments.
This person said that while searching for information online on his phone, he saw an advertisement about making an appointment for a medical examination, so he clicked on it and the website "timkiemtrogiup.com" appeared.
Then, the customer types information into the search box "make an appointment at Bach Mai Hospital" and the hotline number appears and presses call.
When talking to the "operator" and suggesting the need to make an appointment for the child at Bach Mai Hospital, the customer was instructed that a staff member would add Zalo as a friend and send a confirmation message. Next, the customer received a QR code with the account number to request a transfer of the appointment fee of 600,000 VND.
The next morning, when the customer went to Bach Mai Hospital to see his child as scheduled, he was shocked because his name was not in the system.
Returning to the Zalo message, seeing that the content had been revoked and unable to contact the staff who confirmed the appointment. At this point, the customer understood that he had been scammed.
In addition to being scammed out of 600,000 VND for an appointment, the customer also had to pay a high call fee of 8,000 VND/minute. The total amount lost was nearly 1 million VND.
Bach Mai Hospital said that the demand for medical examination and treatment at hospitals and frontline medical facilities is very high, combined with the mentality of people always wanting "special favors", so sometimes this is a loophole for criminals to take advantage of and cheat.
Bach Mai Hospital warns people to be careful when searching for information, making appointments and going to the doctor to avoid being scammed. They should look for official information pages of hospitals and medical facilities to contact and find information.
