Proposal to establish another medical university

(NLDO) - Bach Mai Hospital proposed to establish a University of Medicine and Pharmacy, on the basis of upgrading Bach Mai Medical College.


According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, has proposed to the Government to approve the policy of establishing Bach Mai University of Medicine and Pharmacy on the basis of upgrading Bach Mai Medical College.

Mr. Co said that with the requirement to develop into a specialized medical facility, Bach Mai Hospital also proposed to the Government to allocate investment funds to build new buildings and renovate some buildings that have deteriorated after more than 100 years of use; to soon put Bach Mai Hospital 2 in Ha Nam into operation... Currently, the hospital has prepared medical human resources and other conditions to operate the 2nd facility when the project is completed.

In response to the proposals of Bach Mai Hospital, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the hospital to urgently develop a project, to be completed by the second quarter of 2025 at the latest. In particular, Bach Mai University of Medicine and Pharmacy will operate under an autonomous model, with initial support from the Government.

Bach Mai Medical College is a public educational institution under Bach Mai Hospital, following the "School within the hospital" mechanism, the predecessor was the technician class in 1968.

In 2007, Bach Mai Medical College was established, and in 2013 it was upgraded to a college. Currently, the school has 500 lecturers, both permanent and guest lecturers. Of these, 17 have the title of Associate Professor, Professor; more than 70 are PhDs, Specialist II, 230 are Masters. The total number of students is about 2,000.

The school is currently training in four college programs, including Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Technology. According to a recent survey by the school, the employment rate of students after graduation is 93.81%.
