Kinhtedothi - On the afternoon of February 28, the Mekong Delta Tourism Association (MDTA) held a conference to summarize 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025.
The report at the conference said that in 2024, tourism business activities in the Mekong Delta region have made quite good progress. The total number of visitors is estimated at 52,117,637, an increase of 15.94% over the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourism activities is 62,239 billion VND, an increase of 36.06% over the same period in 2023.
This shows that the entire tourism industry in the Mekong Delta has made efforts to promote linkage, cooperation, and tourism promotion activities and has achieved encouraging results.
With strong development momentum and the support of the government and businesses, Mekong Delta tourism promises to continue to make breakthroughs in 2025, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the region.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City said that Can Tho also has rich tourism resources, from garden eco-tourism, typical river tourism, to cultural, historical, culinary and entertainment tourism.
In particular, the city is focusing on building specific tourism products for MICE tourism and river tourism, thereby attracting investment in upgrading infrastructure, developing high-end entertainment and resort areas, effectively exploiting tourism advantages, and at the same time promoting links with localities in the region to promote the role of the Mekong Delta's tourism center.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Tourism Association honored 4 groups and 6 individuals for their outstanding achievements in tourism activities. Among them, the Representative Office of the Economic and Urban Newspaper in Can Tho City was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Vietnam Tourism Association for its outstanding achievements in coordinating with the Mekong Delta Tourism Association to organize the Workshop "Building and developing tours - routes and special tourism products of the Mekong Delta".
