The new regulation of the People's Committee of Hoi An city clearly states that the business entity of the accommodation model with the residents of the old town must be a local, have a permanent address and actually live in the house where the accommodation activities are planned to be held. At the same time, they must be awarded a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Cultural Families at the commune or ward level or higher and have prestige in the local community or be recognized as a Cultural Family for 3 consecutive years.
The model will be implemented in the ancient town of Hoi An. Experiencing this form, visitors have the opportunity to feel more clearly the lifestyle of local people, live in ancient houses, go to the market, cook and try traditional jobs.
Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee Nguyen Van Son informed that the new local tourism product aims at many goals such as: exploring culture, living with the people of the old town... From there, it will create more income for the people, especially those living in alleys and lanes. At the same time, it will attract more tourists to Hoi An, contributing to preserving the soul of the town.
Many houses in Hoi An ancient town are doing business in tourism, beauty and entertainment services. |
Hoi An city authorities will give priority to households that organize accommodation models associated with production and business activities of traditional industries and trades. In addition, they will encourage people to organize more cultural and artistic activities for tourists to experience.
Business participants need to ensure good services other than accommodation, especially experiential services closely related to the daily life of households, communities and society.
Regarding housing conditions, the city requires that the accommodation space must have appropriate architecture, meeting the living and interaction needs of tourists. Specifically, the house must have no more than 5 guest rooms and each room can accommodate a maximum of 2 people, and there must be no reception desk at the reception area. Houses with architectural and artistic value will be given priority.

In addition, households organizing the reception of guests must ensure compliance with the regulations of the 2017 Tourism Law and its implementing guidelines.
Previously, in May, Hoi An issued a document mentioning the conditions for local people to welcome guests to eat and stay in the walking street.
