1. Loving the profession of "knocking children's heads" since childhood, Ms. Le Thi Hieu - teacher at Khanh Hau Primary School (Tan An City, Long An Province), has a dream of bringing letters to students in border areas.
In 1994, after graduating from Long An Pedagogical College, Ms. Hieu was assigned to teach at Dang Thi Manh Primary School (Binh Hiep Commune, Kien Tuong Town). Due to family circumstances, later on, both husband and wife changed jobs and she taught at Khanh Hau Primary School for 10 years.
When we came to contact Ms. Hieu during a class, we felt the learning atmosphere here was really fun. Ms. Hieu was engrossed in the little games with the Vietnamese program for grade 1. Occasionally, she stopped and gently asked the students which parts they could read or which words they did not understand. With more than 30 years of experience in the teaching profession, she believes that she not only teaches but is also like a kind mother helping students learn the first words in life.
Ms. Hieu shared: “For first graders, the stage of entering the first year of primary school is extremely confusing and shy. Therefore, I train them in classroom discipline such as instructing them to line up and enter the classroom, to maintain order during class, to finish their meals, to rest on time; instructing them on how to prepare learning tools, use books, how to hold a pen, how to sit and write, and how to take care of learning tools;...”.
Uncle Ho once taught: “Teachers must pay attention to both talent and virtue. Talent is culture, expertise, and virtue is politics. If you want students to have virtue, teachers must have virtue… Therefore, teachers must be exemplary, especially with children.” Remembering Uncle Ho’s teachings, Ms. Hieu uses the love, perseverance, and patience of a teacher towards children. Every day, she studies and practices by herself to research and apply information technology and software to prepare lesson plans according to the 2018 General Education Program.
She uses the game method in teaching activities to help students have a happy and comfortable atmosphere before class, in accordance with the spirit of the slogan "Every day at school is a happy day". During class hours, she often spends time training students who have not made progress. She also created a Zalo group to help and support parents in guiding their children's learning at home.
With the dedication and motivation of her family, for many years, Ms. Le Thi Hieu has achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots and provincial levels; many awards in competitions for excellent teachers at the city and provincial levels; 9 consecutive years as a Party member and civil servant who has excellently fulfilled her duties; received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; achieved the title of Excellent Teacher;... Recently, Ms. Hieu is the only individual in the province to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Central Propaganda Department for her outstanding achievements in studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh .
2. Learning from Uncle Ho's example, farmers are not only diligent and hardworking but also have the spirit of learning, grasping modern trends, changing their thinking about agriculture, especially in the new era. That is the sharing of Mr. Le Thanh Nhan - owner of Thanh Nhan Mushroom Establishment (Cay Sao Hamlet, Tan Lap Commune, Tan Thanh District). In 2024, he was the only person in the province to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for his outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
Nearly 10 years ago, he began to learn and experiment with growing fresh oyster mushrooms. However, the quality of the mushrooms grown was not up to standard. Undaunted, he boldly enrolled in a short-term course on growing edible and medicinal mushrooms at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry. While studying, he bought raw materials to experiment with creating embryos and growing mushrooms. After nearly 2 years, he was able to summarize the secrets of this profession. In 2017, Mr. Nhan began mass-producing embryos to sell to customers in the provinces of An Giang, Kien Giang, Dong Thap, etc. Currently, the mushroom facility provides regular jobs for a number of local workers.
To have the facility as it is today, Mr. Nhan put in a lot of effort and invested in rolling investments every year. He still farmed and spent part of the budget to buy more equipment. It took about 2 years for the facility to operate stably. Mr. Nhan informed that growing mushrooms organically means ensuring food safety, absolutely not using fertilizers or chemicals, using raw materials to create seed spawn from rice bran and corn bran; at the same time, killing insects mainly with essential oils.
Thanh Nhan mushroom farm has an area of about 5,000m2 , the entire production process is organic. From the success with oyster mushrooms, he continued to explore and succeed with lingzhi mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms (black fungus) and cordyceps. In the production process, the prerequisite factor he puts first is to aim for clean products for customers to trust.
“Thanks to the attention and facilitation of the locality, my mushroom farm has 4 products recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as 3-star OCOP products and as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level in 2023. Currently, the consumption of these products is mainly sold through social networking sites and e-commerce sites. In addition, he also sells to regular customers and neighboring areas. Recently, I have started testing a new model of organic rice production" - Mr. Le Thanh Nhan informed.
Thanks to his successful business, his family earns hundreds of millions of dong each year. Not only does he produce, do business, and take care of his family, he also annually gives gifts to families in need, supports the Commune Farmers Support Fund, and other sources. Not only that, he also does many jobs to help the local government successfully build a new rural commune and an advanced new rural commune.
3. Learning and following Uncle Ho's example from simple things in daily life is the motto of the Women's Union of Ward 3, Tan An City.
Her husband had an accident and broke his leg. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (Ward 3, Tan An City) had to go out and buy scrap metal, take care of her husband's medicine, and cover the family's living expenses, so life was quite difficult. Understanding and sympathizing with her situation, from the model of Joining hands to buy health insurance (BHYT), the Women's Association of Ward 3 and other members and women mobilized and supported the purchase of health insurance for Ms. Hue's family.
“Thanks to the health insurance card, the cost of medical examination and treatment for families in difficult circumstances has been significantly reduced. Not only sharing the burden for the poor and taking care of their health, the model also contributes to increasing the rate of universal health insurance. This is one of the practical actions that the Association follows Uncle Ho's example, doing useful work for the people" - Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Ward 3 - Doan Thi Dang Chau said.
The model of Joining hands to buy health insurance started in 2015 and the Women's Association of Ward 3 was chosen as a pilot with 15 members. Initially, the women in the group contributed from 20,000 to 50,000 VND/month to support women in difficult circumstances to buy health insurance. From the effectiveness, the model was expanded to the remaining neighborhoods with the amount of money as well as the number of health insurance cards increasing each year.
In addition to the above model, the Women's Union of Ward 3 also has many activities in studying and following Uncle Ho's example, mainly related to social security work, taking care of the lives of HVPN: Charity kitchen, Love Savings, projects named after the Union,... contributing to building the ward to meet civilized urban standards.
With outstanding activities, from 2021 to 2024, the Association was classified as having excellently completed its tasks; was one of the collectives receiving a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, period 2021-2024.
Studying and following Uncle Ho's example has now become the lifestyle and mindset of every cadre, party member and citizen. Since then, there have been many effective actions, contributing significantly to the successful implementation of the province's socio-economic development goals, improving the material and spiritual life of the people./.
