In order to facilitate trade and investment activities in the area, increase import and export turnover, and increase revenue for the budget, in 2023, Nghe An Provincial Customs Department focused on the following tasks: Supervising and managing export and import activities, temporary import and re-export, temporary export and re-import, and transit goods to ensure strict compliance with regulations; Timely resolving difficulties in customs procedures, creating favorable conditions for export and import activities and investment activities in Nghe An.

The unit also issued 22 new decisions and 28 decisions to extend the location for goods inspection at the factory production facilities, and issued decisions to extend the transit time for goods for shipments of Barium Sulfate ore and coal dust; Administrative procedures related to confirming the list of imported wood when carrying out customs procedures; Strengthening the fight against tax loss, ensuring monetary security...
In 2023, there will be 475 businesses participated in customs procedures with a total of 56,847 import and export declarations (an increase of 17.5% over the same period in 2022). The main export items are limestone and white limestone powder of all kinds, wood chips, clinker, mobile phone speakers, headphones, electronic products, processed garments... The main import items include hot rolled steel coils, machinery and equipment, electronic components, aluminum rolls, milk carton paper, garment materials for processed and exported products, asphalt, diesel oil, refined palm oil...

As a result, the total import-export turnover reached 3.141 billion USD, of which export turnover was 1.871 billion USD and import turnover was 1.269 billion USD (up 7% over the same period in 2022).
In 2023, the Customs Department directed and guided units to effectively implement policies on taxes, tax rates, tax calculation prices, and properly implement the consultation process to determine tax calculation prices; collect correctly, fully and pay the state budget on time. By December 14, the total amount of revenue paid to the state budget was VND 1,177 billion, reaching 94.23% of the legal target (VND 1,250 billion). It is expected to reach VND 1,255 billion by December 31, reaching 100.4% of the legal target.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Bui Thanh An - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the performance of Nghe An Customs in 2023. He stated: In the coming time, the world and regional situation will have complicated developments, strongly affecting the domestic economy, especially production and business activities, import and export activities of the whole country in general and Nghe An in particular.
Therefore, in 2024, Nghe An Customs Department needs to closely follow the programs of the province and the industry to have timely and effective solutions and make efforts in implementing solutions to improve the investment and business environment, support and develop enterprises.
At the same time, the unit needs to promote efficiency, remove difficulties in production and business, promote growth, create a favorable environment for economic development; resolutely and synchronously implement solutions to complete the task of collecting state budget and the set targets and plans.
Nghe An Customs Department also needs to coordinate well with relevant levels and sectors; continue to promote administrative reform, modernize Customs and build a strong Customs force, meet requirements and carry out digital transformation well...
