Nearly 200 athletes participate in Olympic Running Day and launch of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run in Ba Vi district

(HNMO) - On May 26, the People's Committee of Ba Vi district organized the opening ceremony of the 2023 Peace Run and awarded athletes with outstanding achievements at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32).

Implementing Plan No. 57 dated February 21, 2023 of the Hanoi People's Committee on organizing the Ba Vi District Peace Run in 2023 and launching the 48th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run; responding to the 77th anniversary of Uncle Ho writing the article "Exercise and Health" calling on all people to exercise; practically achieving achievements to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the founding of Ba Vi District (July 26, 1968 - July 26, 2023), on May 26, the Ba Vi District People's Committee organized the 2023 Peace Run.

The race attracted nearly 200 athletes to participate, aiming to launch a movement for the whole population to participate in physical training following the example of great Uncle Ho, selecting athletes with outstanding achievements to participate in the 48th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace in 2023.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ba Vi District People's Committee Nguyen Duc Anh affirmed that over the years, Ba Vi District has selected athletes with excellent achievements to compete in the running tournament organized by Hanoi Moi Newspaper and achieved good results. Specifically, in 2022, the Ba Vi District athletes won 1 Gold Medal (HCV), 1 Silver Medal (HCB). At the Student Athletics Tournament organized by the city in March 2023, Ba Vi District won 3 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze Medals...

“This year’s Ba Vi District Peace Run is held at the right time when the people of the entire district are competing and excitedly achieving results to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Ba Vi District’s founding. The race is held annually and has achieved proud results, which proves the strong, long-lasting vitality and practical contributions of the tournament to high-performance sports and grassroots sports in the district,” Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh emphasized.

In recent years, the sports movement of Ba Vi district has achieved many remarkable results. Many sports facilities in the district have been invested in construction such as: Quang Oai Stadium; Central Gymnasium; 100% of communes and towns in the district have stadiums; schools have built multi-functional gymnasiums... Every year, Ba Vi district regularly organizes competitions, maintains and develops gifted classes, clubs... thereby creating a healthy and useful playground, creating conditions for athletes to have the opportunity to exchange, learn, improve their physical and mental health.

Also at the ceremony, the Ba Vi District People's Committee organized a ceremony to reward athletes with outstanding achievements at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games. At the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won the first place overall with 136 gold medals, 105 silver medals and 114 bronze medals. In particular, contributing to the overall achievements of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, Ba Vi athletes participated in the games with 8 athletes and won a total of 13 medals of all kinds in team and individual events, including 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

After the launching ceremony, the athletes participated in a general test run. The organizing committee selected the best athletes to participate in the final round of the 48th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Race - For Peace 2023 held at the end of September 2023.
