To bring OCOP products far and wide
After more than 6 years of implementation, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has spread strongly, arousing the potential and advantages of localities, promoting rural economic development and increasing income for people in rural areas.
By March 2025, the whole province had 506 products reaching OCOP level, of which 459 products reached 3-star OCOP level, 46 products reached 4-star OCOP level, with 330 OCOP subjects being cooperatives, companies, establishments, farmers' associations/craft villages.

Mr. Phan Thanh Tung, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Office for Coordination of New Rural Development (NTM), said that previously, OCOP products were mainly consumed within districts and communes or through small traders. Thanks to efforts in advertising, trade promotion and quality improvement, the province's OCOP products have expanded their markets, reaching large agents and supermarkets in many provinces and cities across the country; some products have been targeted for export.
Some prominent brands such as Dalop rice paper and Phuong Nguyen rice paper have created a stable source of raw materials, aiming for 4-star and 5-star OCOP standards, contributing to making the hometown specialties shine on the Vietnamese culinary map. Along with that, some other products have also left their mark, such as: Ngoc An pure coconut oil; Nam Cong bird's nest; peanut oil, black sesame oil; Dulah pagoda tree flower tea; An Tin organic rice...
Mr. Le Van Cong, owner of Nam Cong Bird's Nest facility in Phung Son village, Phuoc Son commune (Tuy Phuoc district) said: Since joining the OCOP program in 2016, the government has created favorable conditions for us to participate in many fairs and promotional events, helping our products become known to many people and gain consumer trust. Currently, our products have met HACCP standards, and have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting 4-star OCOP standards by the end of 2024, and are present in many major markets such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with revenue increasing by more than 30% compared to before meeting OCOP standards.
Similarly, Huong Thanh - Nhon Ly Seafood Production and Trading Cooperative (Quy Nhon City) currently has 6 3-star OCOP products. In 2024, the Cooperative was honored in the program "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers" and was named in the list of 63 typical cooperatives nationwide. Each year, the Cooperative consumes more than 10,000 liters of fish sauce, 5 tons of dried seafood; has signed a contract with Co.opmart Quy Nhon supermarket and sells products through e-commerce platforms and social networks.
The province's OCOP program has achieved positive results, creating a clear change in the production and consumption of rural products. Ms. Nguyen Thi The Vy, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, shared: The OCOP program not only helps increase economic value but also creates many job opportunities and improves income for rural people. Many cooperatives and small and medium enterprises have boldly invested and innovated production and business methods, thereby helping local communities escape poverty and get rich from their hometown's typical products.
However, according to the Provincial Office of New Rural Development Coordination, some localities have not focused on the inspection and supervision of products after recognition, leading to a lack of substance, affecting the prestige of the program. The participation of the subjects is still formal, lacking connection with improving production capacity, developing products and expanding markets. OCOP products are mainly handmade products, with low added value, low level of application of science and technology, and many subjects have not focused on intellectual property.
To enhance the position of Binh Dinh OCOP products, in the coming time, the Provincial Office for Coordination of New Rural Development will coordinate with local agencies and authorities to promote support for entities registering intellectual property and trademarks. At the same time, continue to organize trade promotions, fairs inside and outside the province, bring products to major e-commerce platforms. Improve production processes, apply international standards and build professional marketing strategies to promote products on digital platforms, aiming for export. In addition, continue to review, evaluate and upgrade products, standardize according to international standards to expand the market.
