More than 770 OCOP products from craft villages
Bat Trang Commune (Gia Lam District) is one of the typical craft villages of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general that is being preserved and developed very successfully. This is also a ceramic craft village that contributes many OCOP products to the city.
Chairman of Bat Trang Commune People's Committee Pham Huy Khoi said that currently, the whole commune has about 50 OCOP products that have been evaluated and classified; including products that have been rated 5 stars - the highest ranking in the current OCOP evaluation scale. Thanks to participating in the OCOP Program, the most unique and special products of the craft village have been highly appreciated by domestic and foreign consumers.
Among many typical enterprises and production facilities in Bat Trang craft village, Quang Vinh Ceramics Joint Stock Company is a testament to success in developing traditional crafts.
According to Director of Quang Vinh Ceramics Joint Stock Company Ha Thi Vinh, the company has 4 products: "Red lotus ceramic bowl and plate set", "Swallow and lotus ceramic bowl and plate set", "Dragon and phoenix ceramic bowl and plate set" and "Swallow and lotus ceramic tea set" participating in OCOP and being rated 5 stars. Currently, the company's ceramic products have been exported to many countries around the world.
“Early last December, we participated in the 28th Artigiano International Handicraft Fair, which took place at the Exhibition Center in Milan, Italy,” Ms. Ha Thi Vinh shared.
According to the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the city currently has 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts, of which 334 craft villages and traditional craft villages have been recognized in 25 districts, towns and cities. Each craft village in Hanoi has its own strengths, creating products that are both environmentally friendly and imbued with national cultural identity, as well as bringing increasing economic efficiency to craftspeople. To date, Hanoi has had 771/2,924 OCOP products evaluated and classified from craft villages and villages with crafts. The total production value of 334 craft villages and traditional craft villages recognized in Hanoi has reached more than 24,000 billion VND/year. According to the Hanoi New Rural Development Program Coordination Office, Hanoi craft village products, including OCOP products, have been exported to more than 40 countries and territories, bringing in a large revenue for craft villages. To support craft villages in bringing their products to the world, Hanoi organized a Hanoi booth in the exhibition space, promoting OCOP products, handicrafts, and Vietnamese agricultural products and food at the 28th Artigiano International Handicraft Fair, held at the Exhibition Center in Milan, Italy. Ceramic, embroidery, silk, rattan, interior and exterior decoration, carvings, handbags, etc. products from Hanoi craft villages had the opportunity to be promoted and introduced to international visitors.
In addition to export value, in recent years, the city's traditional craft villages have also attracted domestic and foreign tourists because of their long-standing cultural values, the creativity of craftsmen through each typical product... According to statistics, each year, Hanoi's craft villages welcome about 2 million visitors, contributing about 15% of the city's total tourism revenue.
To develop craft villages combined with tourism, the city has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, localities and related units to implement a plan to develop creative design centers, introduce, promote and sell OCOP products, craft villages associated with tourism in districts, towns and cities in Hanoi. Up to now, the city has built dozens of centers in craft villages: Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo weaving, Phu Nghia commune (Chuong My district); Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft village (Phu Xuyen district); Bat Trang ceramic craft village (Gia Lam district) ...
In addition to the general mechanism and policies, Hanoi city has also issued many programs, projects, and plans to preserve and develop craft villages. Accordingly, in order to focus resources to support the development of craft villages and rural industries, the City People's Committee is currently assigning the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to urgently develop a "Master plan for developing craft villages in Hanoi for the period 2024-2030, with a vision to 2050". The city has also promoted, trained, and improved the capacity of individuals and groups in craft villages on management capacity, organizing production more reasonably and effectively, thereby helping craft villages participate deeply in the OCOP Program to increase product value...
