At the conference, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions announced the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the department after its establishment. The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions was established on the basis of merging the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee and the Provincial Religious Committee (Department of Home Affairs). The Department includes the Office, the Policy and Propaganda Department, and the Department of Belief and Religion.
Mr. A Vo To Phuong - Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions said that the newly established department has greater responsibilities and tasks, so it requires the collective leadership, departments, cadres and civil servants to make efforts and promote a high spirit of solidarity and unity. The key tasks in the first working days of the department are to build the 2025 work program; perfect departments, arrange staff; focus on advising the Provincial People's Committee to implement policies on beliefs and religions, etc.
Particularly for the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions will advise the People's Committee to issue the 2025 program; work with localities and units to grasp difficulties and problems to advise competent authorities to resolve and speed up disbursement progress... At the same time, coordinate with the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee to allocate career capital, transfer undisbursed capital sources; advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan to implement the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2026-2030.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan requested the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions to promptly stabilize the apparatus, reorganize and rearrange functions and tasks, and create conditions for cadres to work with peace of mind and promote their capacity for the common development. The Department's leaders pay special attention to reviewing policies implemented in ethnic minority and mountainous areas and policies on beliefs and religions to promptly detect and remove difficulties and shortcomings. At the same time, they advise on new groups of policies suitable to actual conditions, especially priority policies for mountainous areas to gradually reduce the poverty rate.
Regarding the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions must strive to complete the capital extension to 2025 by April 30 and implement 50% of the capital plan assigned for 2025 by June 30. To achieve this goal, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan said that the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions must have high determination, get involved from today to review each list, plan to implement each project and sub-project; promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee on difficulties and problems in the implementation process so that the provincial leaders can grasp and promptly resolve them.
