Quang Nam starts project to prevent erosion and protect Hoi An coast

Kinhtedothi - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the province's Liberation Day, Quang Nam organized a groundbreaking ceremony for a project to prevent erosion and sustainably protect the Hoi An coast as well as to install a signboard at Que Son High School.

On the morning of March 20, at Cua Dai beach (Hoi An city), the People's Committee of Quang Nam province organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to prevent erosion and sustainably protect Hoi An's coastline.

The project has a total investment of VND982.239 billion (equivalent to 42 million euros). Specifically, the AFD loan is VND807.745 billion (of which the State budget allocates 50% and the project re-lends 50%); non-refundable aid from the WARM fund authorized by the EU is VND46.585 billion (State budget allocates 100% for the project); counterpart capital from the provincial budget is VND127.907 billion.

Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu affirmed that the project effectively contributes to reducing coastal erosion, ensuring safety for people's lives and promoting business activities. When completed, the project will also contribute to improving the resilience of local people to the impacts of climate change, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Hoi An city in particular and Quang Nam province in general.

Mr. Vo Van Diem - Director of the Quang Nam Province Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that climate change, rising sea levels and other natural factors have posed great challenges to the province's coastal protection work.

Therefore, the project to prevent erosion and sustainably protect the Hoi An coastline is of utmost importance. The project not only protects land, houses, property and people's lives but also preserves tourism and resort infrastructure for the entire 3.2 square kilometers of land and more than 1,300 households.

On the same day, Quang Nam also organized a ceremony to honor the project celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Nam province (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025) for the Que Son High School project.

The project is invested and directly supervised by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board with a total investment of nearly 60 billion VND, from the provincial budget. The project started construction on February 6, 2023, meeting the scale of 900 students and ensuring that it meets the standards of level 1 facilities according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan affirmed that the project is part of the local educational development efforts and strategy. In recent times, Quang Nam has also had many policies, decisions and specific actions to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
