President Luong Cuong: The good Vietnam-Japan relationship has the contribution of former Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro

The President expressed his pleasure at meeting former Vietnam-Japan Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro, a close friend of the Vietnamese people.

Emphasizing the good relationship between Vietnam and Japan, especially after more than 1 year of implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, which has seen positive developments, the President pointed out that the good relationship is thanks to the efforts of generations of leaders of Vietnam and Japan; including the personal contribution of the former Special Ambassador.

Expressing his emotion that the former Special Ambassador had continuously done many things of high social significance for nearly 40 years, creating a premise to connect the people and good relations between the two countries; appreciating the former Special Ambassador's generosity in humanitarian support activities in Vietnam, especially supporting orphans at Birla Children's Village with nearly 240 children, the President affirmed that many Vietnamese people, although they had not met him, had known and been moved by the noble deeds of former Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro.

In the context of the good development of Vietnam-Japan relations with great potential, advantages and room for development, the President hopes that in the coming time, the former Ambassador will devote all his efforts, affection, interest and contributions to promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Former Vietnam-Japan Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro thanked the President for taking the time to meet him; expressing that although this was the first time he met the President, he felt as if they had been close friends for a long time.

Noting that he has been attached to Vietnam for 38 years, the former Special Ambassador reported to the President about the programs and projects to support Vietnamese people in mountainous, remote and disadvantaged areas. This time, a project will be implemented to support students of a primary and secondary school in Yen Bai province to have clean water, hot water and improve the sanitary environment for a better learning life.

In addition, he also supports Nghia Lo General Hospital in free examination and screening programs for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas with liver-related diseases.

The former Special Ambassador also shared his idea of ​​establishing an orchestra for disadvantaged children at Nguyen Dinh Chieu School, a school he has supported for the past 30 years because of his love for the children.

Appreciating Vietnam's long-standing cultural traditions and unique landscapes, former Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro also wishes to contribute to further promoting cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries.

Appreciating the sentiments and noble gestures as well as the programs and projects for the Vietnamese people in general and Vietnamese children in particular, the President affirmed that the Vietnamese State always supports and creates favorable conditions for the former Special Ambassador to be able to implement charity programs and projects, turning noble ideas into reality.

The President highly appreciated the former Special Ambassador's projects on protecting public health in remote areas and initiatives to promote Vietnamese tourism in Japan; expressed his emotion and appreciation for the former Special Ambassador's generosity towards humanitarian support activities in Vietnam.

The President hopes that in the coming time, former Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro will continue to devote much affection and effort to contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan to develop substantially and effectively; at the same time, continue traditional and modern cultural exchange programs between Vietnam and Japan; promote the image of Japan in Vietnam, thereby deepening the understanding between the people of the two countries - an important foundation for the Vietnam-Japan relationship to reach new heights.
