Expressing her emotions when meeting the godmothers and children, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always had special affection for children and teenagers. In recent times, the Party and State have always paid deep attention and given the best to children; perfected policies and took practical actions in caring for, educating and protecting children. Along with that, the spiritual and material resources of socio-political organizations and individuals for the work of caring for and protecting children have become more and more timely, covering many children across the country, especially in the difficult context of the pandemic.

Congratulating and praising the results of the Vietnam Women's Union in caring for women and children, especially the meaningful "Godmother" model, the Vice President emphasized that after nearly 2 years of implementation, the program has truly become a fulcrum to spread love to orphans across the country. This year, the program has an even more special meaning when it is organized during the Month of Action for Children, the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948/June 11, 2023), and Vietnamese Family Day, June 28.

Along with raising awareness and actions of society on child care and protection, the Vice President requested that the Vietnam Women's Union continue to maintain the operational routine and sustainability of the "Godmother" model. In the coming time, the Vietnam Women's Union will research and disseminate more models suitable to its assigned functions and tasks to help more women and children in special circumstances have conditions to develop.

The Vice President requested central and local ministries, branches and localities to take practical actions to care for children, especially children in difficult circumstances; research and propose policies, laws and allocate resources so that children are always better cared for, educated and trained in each stage of the country's development.

Expressing gratitude to the kind hearts of godmothers across the country, the Vice President expressed his belief that godmothers of orphans will continue to promote the good qualities of Vietnamese women and the tolerance of a mother to directly and indirectly care for, nurture and support the children's development.

For the children, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hopes that they will be good, study well, continue to help friends in similar situations; have many good plans for the future; and at the same time, believes that they will become kind-hearted people, useful citizens for society.

Comrade Ha Thi Nga, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, gave a speech of thanks at the meeting.

Fully accepting the Vice President's direction as well as the sentiments and wishes, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga said that the Union will continue to organize and implement practical and effective programs to comprehensively care for children; have support activities to help mothers fulfill their roles well. In the coming time, the Union will also propose mechanisms, policies and have more effective activities in the work of caring for and protecting women and children.
