The investment in developing the power grid in the province has always been of interest to Bac Lieu Electricity Company, with the goal of expanding the power grid and "taking electricity one step ahead" to ensure stable and safe power supply, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development of Bac Lieu province, ensuring national energy security. In 2025, Bac Lieu Electricity Company will deploy 24 power grid construction investment projects with a total investment of more than 1,143 billion VND.

Many projects are under construction.
This year, the Electricity Company has implemented many projects such as: Hiep Thanh 110kV Station and the connecting line to Hiep Thanh 110kV Station with a total line length of 5.54km, total investment of 114 billion VND; Ngan Dua 110kV Station and the connecting line to Ngan Dua 110kV Station with a total line length of 15.69km, total investment of 241 billion VND; Bac Lieu 2 - Vinh Chau 110kV Line project with a total line length of 31.65km (Bac Lieu province 14.31km; Soc Trang province 17.34km), total investment of 182 billion VND; 110kV Outgoing Project to Gia Rai 220kV Transformer Station with a total line length of 14.87km, total investment of 71.04 billion VND; 110kV Outgoing Line project after Hoa Binh 220kV Transformer Station, number of circuits from 2 to 4 circuits connected to Hoa Binh - Dong Hai 110kV line, total line length 0.877km, total investment 23.38 billion VND.
In addition, the Company also implemented 19 22kV power grid projects, with an investment volume of 359km of medium voltage lines; 552.85km of low voltage lines; the total capacity of 22kV transformer stations is 114.93MVA, with a total investment of VND 812.47 billion; expected to supply electricity to about 1,186 households in low-lying areas (sparsely populated).
The list of power grid investment and construction is based on the assessment of the province's electricity demand to complete the grid structure, improve the reliability of power supply and increase the rate of households with electricity, especially meeting the electricity demand in some areas with high load growth (such as Dong Hai district, Hoa Binh district, Gia Rai town, Bac Lieu city, which are developing strongly in aquaculture, seafood processing and tourism...), meeting the needs of local socio-economic development and people's daily life. Especially, releasing renewable energy sources such as wind power, rooftop solar power, bringing revenue to the people and the provincial budget.

Many problems in land clearance need to be resolved
In the process of implementing power grid projects in the province, Bac Lieu Power Company encountered some difficulties and problems with construction sites, slowing down the progress of completing the projects as planned. Mr. Tran Huu Khoa - Director of Bac Lieu Power Company said that the problems from the delay in handing over the sites caused difficulties in the construction of power grid projects, while these are all projects serving people's lives, serving production, especially high-tech shrimp farming projects. Therefore, speeding up the progress of site clearance is to remove the "bottleneck" to promote the progress of the projects.
In Bac Lieu City, for example, the 110kV power grid project, in which the Hiep Thanh 110kV Station and the Hiep Thanh 110kV Station connection line are still stuck with a household related to site clearance. The purpose of the project is to meet the load demand, reduce the power supply radius, increase the reliability of power supply; ensure power supply for the Bac Lieu Shrimp High-Tech Agricultural Zone; Hiep Thanh Social Housing Area, Vinh Trach Dong... contributing to meeting the socio-economic development needs of the locality. The company has worked with the household owner and the household owner basically agreed to hand over the construction site in advance with the request to recover an additional 811m2 of land. The company is coordinating with relevant units to carry out procedures to supplement the compensation plan and is working with the locality to get approval to add the recovered land area to the land use planning until 2030 and the land use plan for 2025.
Many projects are “stuck” because they have not been approved for land use planning or have not been included in the land use plan for the year. A typical example is the 110kV Bac Lieu 2 - Vinh Chau line project, which passes through Vinh Loi district and has not been approved for land use planning until 2030.
Or for the project of 110kV exits to 220kV Gia Rai transformer station, there is still a position of pillar number 10, a household has not agreed to the compensation price. The project has not yet agreed on the access road to construct 16 pillar positions (compensated for the land area of the pillar positions), on the land of 19 households.
It is even more difficult with medium and low voltage power grid projects. According to regulations, the State does not have compensation costs, mainly coordinating with localities to mobilize households to agree to hand over the land in the spirit of "State and People work together". However, some households obstruct construction on their family land, requesting compensation; or the location of the power pole is on public land managed by the State, but some households obstruct because it is inconvenient for their daily life...
Regarding the above difficulties, “Bac Lieu Electricity Company hopes to receive support and consensus from the provincial departments, branches, relevant units, businesses and people so that the projects can be completed soon, contributing to ensuring stable, safe and continuous electricity supply to meet the growing demand for electricity use in the province in the coming time and the following years”, Mr. Tran Huu Khoa shared.
