Defense cooperation is an important pillar in Vietnam - Cambodia cooperative relations.

At the reception, Mr. Tea Seiha congratulated Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu on his assignment in Cambodia and believed that the Ambassador would have a successful term, making an important contribution to the development of the relationship of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability" between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his honor to be appointed as Ambassador of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister; expressed his impression and appreciation of Cambodia's rapid development; congratulated the great achievements in all aspects that the Cambodian people have achieved in recent times under the wise leadership of the Cambodian People's Party chaired by Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Royal Government of Cambodia chaired by Samdech Hun Manet.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu highly appreciated the effective defense cooperation between the two countries; affirmed that this is a pillar in the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia. The armies of the two countries have always stood side by side, united in the fight to protect the independence and peace of each country; thanked the Cambodian side for always creating favorable conditions for the search, recovery and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia.

On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu shared some work orientations in the coming time, including promoting specific cooperation plans in various fields between ministries and branches of the two countries on the basis of the orientations agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders in Ho Chi Minh City; promoting cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense in exchanging delegations at all levels, training human resources and comprehensively, practically and effectively implementing the Defense Cooperation Protocol for the period 2025-2029 and the 2025 Cooperation Plan between the two sides; promoting the urgent completion of infrastructure construction at Tan Nam border gate (Tay Ninh province) so that the two sides can soon organize the inauguration ceremony of the Tan Nam-Moeun Chey border gate pair (Prey Veng province) in the third quarter of 2025; promoting the two sides to soon agree on the connection point of the Phnom Penh-Bavet and Moc Bai-Ho Chi Minh City expressways.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Tea Seiha expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome that Vietnam gave to the Cambodian delegation and highly appreciated the high-level meeting between the two parties and three parties in Ho Chi Minh City in February 2025; was pleased to witness the rapid development of Vietnam, the assurance of social security and order, and the improvement of people's lives; expressed his delight at the close and close relationship between the two countries' defense ministries. The two sides regularly exchange delegations at all levels, and actively hold bilateral and trilateral meetings with Laos at regional and international forums to demonstrate the solidarity and friendship between Cambodia-Vietnam and Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam; thanked Vietnam for supporting human resource training for the Cambodian defense ministry; supported the two sides to promote the unification of the connection point between the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai and Bavet - Phnom Penh expressways, and informed about Cambodia's plan to build the Bavet - Kampong Thom expressway, which will contribute to promoting tourism and people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
