The road leading to the Pham Van Bau war invalids' house at the foot of the mountain in Hoc Do village, Ba Vinh commune, Ba To district, is crowded with people. People came to congratulate Mr. Bau's family on moving into a spacious and cozy house. Sharing his joy, Mr. Bau confided: "In the past time, every day, regardless of sunny or rainy weather, the uncles came to help move bricks, stones, iron, cement, and build the project. Thanks to that, the house was completed ahead of schedule. The family is very happy, from now on, there will be no more worries when storms come."
Sharing the joy of moving into a new house, Mrs. Pham Thi Lo, a former soldier of Company 299, Ba To District Military Command, currently living in Ka La village, Ba Dinh commune, Ba To district, excitedly said: “My husband and I are old now and no longer have the strength to work in the fields. Our daily living expenses depend on the monthly sick leave allowance. A few years ago, when I saw the dilapidated house, I wanted to repair it but did not have enough money. Now, with the care, support and help of the locality, cadres, soldiers and villagers, I have a new house. So my lifelong dream has now come true.”

Along Ba To town, on the roads and small paths, flags and flowers are brightly decorated. In residential areas, new houses are built thanks to the joint efforts of the army. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Trieu, Political Commissar of the Ba To District Military Command, said: "To implement the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, the unit established working groups, deployed regular forces, and militia and self-defense forces to help people with thousands of working days to dismantle houses, transport materials, dig foundations, and build new houses."
After more than 90 days (from December 2024 to March 2025), with the determination to overcome difficulties, the joint efforts and consensus of the Party Committee, local authorities, district armed forces, mass organizations, and philanthropists, Ba To district has completed the construction and repair of 553/553 houses for the disadvantaged, policy families, and people with meritorious services to the revolution, ensuring quality, safety, and on schedule. The households have moved into their new houses.
Comrade Dinh Ngoc Vy, Secretary of Ba To District Party Committee, excitedly said: “Inheriting and promoting the tradition of the heroic revolutionary land, the army and people of Ba To district have joined hands and unanimously eliminated temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, bringing joy to households facing housing difficulties. This is truly a meaningful and humane program, contributing to ensuring social security in the area, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.”
