(Dan Tri) - The Chairman of Hanoi proposed that departments and branches have a coordination mechanism to encourage restaurants, hotels, shopping centers... to open to serve and meet the personal hygiene needs of tourists and people.
On February 28, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh chaired a meeting to inspect the results of the implementation of the task of improving the quality of environmental sanitation work in four inner-city districts: Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, and Hai Ba Trung.
According to the report, Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited (URENCO) and Thien Y Environmental Energy Joint Stock Company have signed a cooperation agreement to improve environmental sanitation quality in 4 inner-city districts.
The units will supplement advanced and modern machinery and equipment and commit to urgently importing equipment and vehicles to implement immediately in March; the equipment will be put into operation immediately upon arrival, prioritizing main streets.

In the coming time, Hanoi will improve the quality of environmental sanitation on main streets, then deploy synchronously throughout the 4 districts.
Regarding public restrooms, the Chairman of Hanoi suggested that departments and branches have a coordination mechanism, encouraging restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, etc. to open to serve and solve the personal hygiene needs of tourists and local people.
This is to eliminate the lack of public toilets, indiscriminate defecation, causing discomfort, unhygienic conditions, and urban aesthetics, according to Mr. Thanh.
For public toilets, Mr. Thanh requested that toilet models be calculated to suit actual conditions.
At the meeting, the Chairman of Hanoi welcomed the historic inner-city districts that proactively launched the movement to ensure environmental sanitation, truly creating a change in people's awareness of maintaining environmental sanitation.
He also emphasized that in the work of preserving landscapes and environmental sanitation, people's awareness is most important.
"I request that the four districts share their experiences and good practices so that the movement to maintain environmental hygiene becomes a way of life and the breath of life for the people of the capital," said the Chairman of Hanoi.
In addition, Mr. Thanh also requested Hanoi Urban Environment One Member Co., Ltd. and Thien Y Environmental Energy Joint Stock Company to speed up the progress of adding machinery and equipment and soon deploy with the spirit of supporting the city as the main focus.
The Chairman of Hanoi agreed with the proposal to select a district for Thien Y Company and UNRENCO to be a pilot, from which to learn from and replicate the model. If Hanoi does well, other provinces and cities will replicate and follow suit.
