In 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to implement the Program for Trade Development in Mountainous, Remote, and Island Areas for the period 2021 - 2025 by building a Model for Developing Potential and Advantageous Goods in Mountainous, Remote, and Island Areas. Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade will preside over and coordinate with localities to survey locations to develop a Model for Developing Potential and Advantageous Goods in Mountainous, Remote, and Island Areas in Lam Dong Province.

After conducting a survey of businesses in Lam Ha and Dam Rong districts, the Department of Industry and Trade organized a connection and selected the Hoa Ngan general merchandise business (Hamlet 1, Ro Men commune) to preside over and cooperate with businesses with products from mountainous, remote and isolated areas of Lam Dong province to form a Model for developing potential and advantageous products from mountainous, remote and isolated areas in Lam Dong province at the store of the Hoa Ngan general merchandise business.

Accordingly, from the budget of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dam Rong district has also arranged and set up a product display area of about 100 m2 at Hoa Ngan general store. At the same time, it has contacted and connected with manufacturers and distributors of products from mountainous areas, remote areas of Dam Rong and Lam Ha districts and potential products and advantages of localities for display at points of sale.

Mr. Bui Tien Viet - Head of the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department of Dam Rong district said that the model was officially put into operation from November 2024. The store has more than 20 types of typical products of Dam Rong and Lam Ha districts. In particular, most of the products are certified by localities with 3-star or higher OCOP certificates such as: dried macadamia, macadamia essential oil, various types of tea, honey, coffee, wild bitter melon, agarwood, wild bamboo shoots, dried wild banana seeds, lingzhi mushrooms, etc.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, this is the first model deployed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the Central Highlands provinces. The store has a specific signboard, is a trusted address to promote and introduce potential products, advantages of mountainous areas, remote areas of Lam Dong province that have been evaluated, appraised and recognized by the agency according to the prescribed criteria. At the same time, this is also a favorable condition for Lam Dong enterprises to promote promotional activities, cooperation and product consumption.

In order for the model in Dam Rong district to operate stably and operate with prestige, creating trust among consumers, the Department of Industry and Trade has also requested the Hoa Ngan general merchandise business household to organize business activities in accordance with regulations, provide clear product information, list full product prices, serve customers attentively and organize sustainable business cooperation with partners; for enterprises and cooperatives participating in cooperation in displaying products at points of sale, Vietnam is responsible for the displayed products, ensuring quality and safety for consumers, and together building effective points of sale.

Mr. Tran Van Hoa - owner of Hoa Ngan general store said that the store is very honored to be chosen by the Department of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Dam Rong district as a model for developing potential products and advantages of the locality. Currently, the store is cooperating with more than 20 establishments and businesses in Lam Dong province to introduce, promote, display and sell key products. "This is a fairly new location, so it has only reached a part of the people in the central area of the district. The store opened at the end of the year, coinciding with some important events of the district, so it has had the opportunity to introduce products to customers from afar. I also hope that this will be a reputable address selling products with guaranteed packaging and origin so that people can shop with peace of mind", Mr. Hoa shared.

The Trade Development Program for Mountainous, Remote, and Island Areas for the 2015-2020, 2021-2025, and subsequent phases is being implemented in 287 districts with difficult and extremely difficult socio-economic conditions in 48 provinces and cities across the country. This is a special and extremely necessary program to build and develop a distribution system for goods and services, narrow the gap in trade development between this region and other regions, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, increasing people's income, and ensuring national defense and security in this region.
