City at 5am

The first day of the week, running across the most beautiful street in the city to go to work, my heart was filled with joy. This season, Nha Trang weather is very beautiful, the sky is deep blue, high and the sun is bright yellow. The sea is blue and the waves have become gentle, many people have immersed themselves in the warm sea water, swimming a few laps to satisfy their longing from the days of rough seas and strong winds.

But those who don’t go to the beach early in the morning probably don’t know that the city has been awake since 5am, or even earlier, before the street lights have even turned off. At 5am, on the city streets, houses begin to open their doors. Houses that are doing business, especially those that sell breakfast, are busy arranging everything to prepare for a day of serving passersby. On the dark corners of the streets, sticky rice and coffee shops are also ready for early risers. Especially the sidewalk coffee shops, early in the morning there are already five or seven people sitting with coffee filters in front of them. Sometimes just walking by the street, you can feel the aroma of coffee soaked in the morning dew. Meanwhile, the streets are already clean, the 5am sanitation workers have finished their work, packed up the brooms, the garbage trucks and finished the work they started at midnight the night before.

The city at 5am is very peaceful, the fresh air is filled with the scent of trees and leaves, if you go to the beach you will still smell the strong smell of salt and seaweed. The city at 5am, the sun is just a corner of the orange-yellow sky in the east. The rows of poplars and coconut trees on the beach are still dark shadows, sometimes still because there is no wind in the early morning. The beach at 5am already has the sound of loud music from many groups doing morning exercises. When the sun begins to rise over the mountain tops offshore, the first light of dawn will make the uniforms of the women doing exercises in the square look especially beautiful. Visitors to Nha Trang for the first time will be amazed and then fall in love with the scenery of the beach starting at 5am, then return to be the first to go to the beach at 5am the next time.

The city starts at 5am and an hour later the working day begins. After 6am, many people return home after swimming a few laps in the sea to let the waves caress them. On the roads from the sea to the city, many people walk with their hair still wet with sea water, their faces happy and eager as if they are ready for a new day's work.

My coastal city is just like that, no matter how it changes over the years, the rhythm of life in a day seems to remain unchanged, so no matter where you go or where you live, you always remember it and wish to have the opportunity to return to visit.
