Accordingly, despite facing many difficulties caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi), the city's economy maintained its growth momentum; compared to the same period in 2023, in the first 9 months of 2024: Hai Phong's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 9.77%; industrial production index (IIP) increased by over 14%; total state budget revenue in the area reached nearly 87,500 billion VND, an increase of nearly 34%, reaching over 82% of the estimate assigned by the City People's Council.

The city's investment and business environment continues to improve. The effectiveness of a series of investment promotion activities has brought positive results in attracting foreign investment. The city continues to promote the implementation of many large projects in areas such as transportation and urban areas, contributing to raising the position and paving the way for development in many socio-economic areas of the city. The fields of culture, society and environment continue to receive attention. Political and social stability, national defense - security, and social order and safety continue to be ensured and maintained.

Regarding the damage caused by Storm No. 3: 02 people died; 67 people were injured; 01 soldier died while on duty to help people overcome the consequences after the storm. Damage to works: 11,870 houses, 64 defense works, 603 schools, 237 medical facilities, 1,046 cultural works, historical and cultural relics. Damage affected: over 23,300 hectares of rice fields, over 2,900 hectares of crops, over 695,000 ornamental plants, flowers, over 7,100 hectares of forest, over 124,700 fallen trees... The total estimated damage caused by Storm No. 3 in the city is over 12,200 billion VND.

In the last 3 months of the year, the city will focus on implementing a number of key tasks and solutions such as: focusing on leadership, direction, operation, striving to complete the socio-economic development goals in 2024; focusing on overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3, recovering production and business after the storm. Coordinate with central agencies to complete: review Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045; complete the review of Resolution No. 35 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Hai Phong city. Speed up the implementation of the social housing development project in combination with housing solutions for households living in old apartment buildings in the city. Prepare to organize well the thematic session of the City People's Council in October and the regular session at the end of 2024.
