Speed ​​up vaccination against measles

The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has just issued a document to the Departments of Health; Education and Training; Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct the acceleration of measles vaccination.

Recently, the province has recorded a number of positive cases and a rapid increase in suspected measles cases. Implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-TTg dated March 15, 2025 on accelerating measles vaccination to urgently deploy measles control measures in the province, the Provincial People's Committee requests the Department of Health to urgently assess the measles situation in the area to have a plan to organize a measles vaccination campaign according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health. Review human resources, funding, materials, equipment, and vaccines for the expanded immunization program.

Coordinate with central departments and institutes under the Ministry of Health to ensure timely receipt of additional measles vaccines to organize the vaccination campaign and must complete it by March 2025. Effectively implement the expanded immunization program, catch-up vaccination, and catch-up vaccination for those who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated. At the same time, strengthen communication about the epidemic situation, the dangers of measles, measures to prevent measles, and the benefits of vaccination.

Request the Department of Education and Training; the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to direct educational institutions to implement measures to prevent measles epidemics according to the instructions of the health sector; monitor the health of children and students and immediately notify medical facilities when detecting suspected cases of measles for timely isolation and treatment; mobilize parents to take their children for full and timely vaccination; strengthen propaganda on measures to prevent measles, and at the same time prevent and handle incorrect information about measles epidemics.

For the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, it is necessary to urgently direct authorities at all levels, relevant departments and branches to coordinate and support the health sector to strengthen the screening and management of vaccination subjects to ensure close adherence to the actual situation in the area; not to miss any subjects, especially in areas at risk of outbreaks, with the spirit of "going to every alley, knocking on every door, screening every subject".
