On March 17, in Hanoi, Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat chaired and directed the National Scientific Conference "The Party's theoretical work and important research orientations to 2030, vision to 2045".

Co-chairing the workshop were comrades: Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Lai Xuan Mon, Party Central Committee member, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Hoang Trung Dung, Party Central Committee member, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; Ta Ngoc Tan, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.

The workshop was organized by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Communist Magazine, and the Central Theoretical Council, to evaluate 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 37-NQ/TW dated October 9, 2014 of the Politburo (11th tenure) on "Theoretical work and research orientations to 2030"; to propose important research orientations, to elevate the Party's theoretical work according to the guiding ideology of General Secretary To Lam, to meet the requirements of national construction, development and protection in the new era.

Speaking at the workshop, Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat, emphasized the very important role of theoretical work in the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh attached great importance to theoretical work. In recent times, our Party has paid attention to and issued many documents on improving the quality and effectiveness of theoretical work, typically Resolution No. 37-NQ/TW. Sectors, levels, and theoretical agencies at the central and local levels have promptly grasped and organized implementation, achieving a number of important results, contributing to affirming and deepening the lasting value of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, providing many scientific arguments for advising and planning the Party's policies and guidelines, making important contributions to the implementation of our Party's 40-year renewal policy.

The Standing Member of the Secretariat also frankly pointed out a number of limitations and shortcomings of theoretical work. Specifically: not meeting the expectations of reality; not keeping up with developments of the situation, not ensuring the requirements, the role of being ahead, leading the way; many theoretical issues have not been comprehensively studied, thoroughly resolved, some new issues, difficult issues have not been promptly clarified; the newness of discovery, quality of forecasting, supplementing, developing theory, scientific content, creativity in some research works are not high.

The Standing Member of the Secretariat requested to look straight at the truth, clearly identify the bottlenecks and knots in theory and theoretical awareness; constantly innovate, continue to improve the Party's thinking, intelligence and mettle; have new and breakthrough ways in theoretical awareness, constantly develop and perfect the theoretical system, to build strategic decisions, arouse and strongly promote the strength, spirit and will of the Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese nation.

Based on the orientation and suggestions for major tasks and research contents of theoretical work in the coming time, comrade Tran Cam Tu expressed his hope that scientists and experts attending the Workshop will have a high sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, focus on discussing, exchanging, and carefully evaluating theoretical issues raised in the new context; as a basis for filtering, building and advising on scientific arguments, serving the work of building and planning the Party's policies, contributing to supplementing and clarifying in the process of building documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress.

In his opening speech at the workshop, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council emphasized: Looking back at 40 years of carrying out the renovation process and after 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 37-NQ/TW, the Party's theoretical work has promoted the intelligence of the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army, building a unique Vietnamese theory, serving as the basis for the Party's extremely important policies and decisions in the process of renovation, integration and national development.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that the Workshop evaluate and clarify the achievements as well as the limitations in theoretical work in the past time, draw lessons, identify tasks in the new period, especially the key tasks of theoretical research, summarize practices, continue to supplement and develop the "Vietnamese revolutionary theory", provide arguments for planning and implementing strategic and revolutionary decisions of the Party.

At the Workshop, delegates discussed, analyzed and clarified the main contents: General issues on the Party's theoretical work; Current situation and issues arising in the Party's theoretical work today; Viewpoints, goals and solutions to promote the development of the Party's theoretical work in the new period.

Concluding the workshop, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, affirmed that the opinions and discussions at the workshop clearly demonstrated a profound scientific spirit, enthusiasm and responsibility; contributing to providing a reliable theoretical and practical basis, creating unity and raising awareness of the Party's theoretical work. The workshop reached a high consensus in evaluating the results achieved after 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 37-NQ/TW in conjunction with summarizing a number of theoretical and practical issues on the socialist-oriented renovation process over the past 40 years in Vietnam; unanimously proposed to the Party many new issues and new directions for the Party's theoretical work in the new era.

Opinions at the workshop also proposed solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of theoretical work until 2030, with a vision to 2045, promoting the development of theoretical work in the new era.

The Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee of the Workshop seriously accepted the profound opinions of the Standing Member of the Secretariat, especially the orientations, suggestions for tasks and major research contents from now until the middle of the 21st century, in order to provide arguments and evidence for the planning and implementation of strategic decisions of the Party and State in the historic revolutionary period of the nation.

The conclusions of the Workshop will be compiled and refined by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission to supplement and improve the quality of the Project summarizing 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 37-NQ/TW and submitted to the Politburo in March 2025.
