(NLDO) - Early admission is wasteful and costly because even if admitted early, candidates still have to re-register on the general admission system.
At the seminar on career guidance and university admissions in 2025 organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education on the morning of January 5, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education - Ministry of Education and Training, informed about the 2025 university and college admissions.
The leader of the Department of Higher Education said that when the apparatus is reorganized, the Ministry of Education and Training will manage the college level, so the ministry is building a database so that candidates can register for college when applying for university admission.
Early admission will no longer be available in 2025.
Regarding some adjustments in enrollment in 2025, Ms. Thuy said that regarding the threshold to ensure input quality for the pedagogical and health majors, the draft enrollment regulations for 2025 focus on high school study results. This regulation is not favorable for independent candidates who want to study in this major group, so the new regulations will either apply high school study results or high school graduation exam scores.
The 2025 admissions will eliminate the concept of early admission because even if candidates are admitted early, they still have to re-enter their wishes on the general admission system and candidates can only be admitted to one wish. Early admission like in previous years causes a waste of time and money for candidates as well as universities. According to Ms. Thuy, only outstanding candidates are admitted early by direct admission. Early admission like in previous years only benefits weak candidates.
In 2025, schools can still use many admission methods but need to convert to a common scale so that the admission score is the same and there is no need to allocate quotas for each admission method. Considering transcripts only uses grade 12 study results.
Ms. Thuy also noted to universities that the common subjects in the admission combinations of a group of majors must be 50% or more.
Candidates with high test scores will not be given priority points to avoid the situation of having to score over 30 points to pass.
