Ho Chi Minh City invites people to vote for 50 outstanding events and activities of the city

(NLDO) - Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has officially introduced 57 events and activities for people to vote for 50 outstanding events and activities in 50 years of national reunification.

On the afternoon of March 20, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee officially introduced 57 events and activities to vote for 50 outstanding events and activities of the city towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Mr. Trinh Huu Anh - Head of the Press and Publishing Department, Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - said that the city organized a vote for 50 outstanding events and activities in the city's development over the past 50 years.

This voting event aims to honor outstanding achievements that have contributed to the development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the country in general. This is an opportunity for people to participate and choose events and activities that have important historical, political, economic, cultural, social, defense, security, etc. marks of the city.

According to Mr. Trinh Huu Anh, the events and activities introduced today are based on a synthesis and selection from nominations by departments, branches, localities, press agencies and the Advisory Council (including experts, veteran revolutionaries of the city, scholars, and researchers on the city's development history).

Agencies, organizations and people can participate in voting or nominating additional outstanding events and activities throughout the 50-year history of national reunification, from April 30, 1975 to present.

Events and activities nominated by the public will be considered for voting by the Voting Council when nominated by the majority of the public (at least 30% of the total number of nominees).

Specific criteria for voting and additional nominations (if any) are as follows: in line with the Party and State's guidelines and policies, the city's socio-economic development strategy through each historical period in all fields; having positive, widespread, long-term impacts that are agreed upon, responded to, supported and implemented by the people.

At the same time, it has typical values in terms of historical, political, and socio-economic development significance of Ho Chi Minh City in particular, the Southeast region, and the whole country in general; has resonance, is recognized by the Central and the whole country, and supported by international friends; is a breakthrough, has value beyond time and space, paving the way for new trends, and is beneficial to society.

Outstanding events and activities have taken place and been completed, bringing profound values and meanings, demonstrating the pioneering, leading, and overcoming all difficulties and obstacles of Ho Chi Minh City; reflecting the typical characteristics of the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
