Da Nang cooperates with Vingroup to promote green transformation and sustainable development

DNO - On February 25, the People's Committee of Da Nang City and Vingroup Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on green transformation and sustainable development for the 2025-2030 period, marking an important step forward in the city's sustainable development strategy.

Attending the signing ceremony were Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh; Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh; Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh and representatives of Vingroup and relevant departments, agencies and branches of the city.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in many important areas, including green tourism, green transportation and green lifestyle. In the field of green transportation development, the City People's Committee and Vingroup will jointly launch the movement "Fierce Vietnamese Spirit - For a Green Future", encouraging the use of electric vehicles, including electric taxis and electric buses.

The two sides will study and develop the Da Nang - Hue electric bus route, contributing to improving the experience for residents and tourists. At the same time, the City People's Committee will coordinate with Vingroup to implement a plan to use electric buses in the inner city, in accordance with actual conditions and the green energy conversion roadmap according to Decision No. 876/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

The city will also facilitate Vingroup to develop the SM Green electric taxi service, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the green transport transition according to Decision No. 1957/QD-UBND of the Da Nang City People's Committee.

In addition, the City People's Committee will study and support the planning and arrangement of locations for the installation of electric charging stations for Vingroup, and propose a mechanism to support the development of charging station infrastructure in the city. The two sides will cooperate to develop a carbon credit project from electric vehicles and charging stations, in order to register on international exchanges and transfer carbon credits when eligible.

In addition to the field of green transportation, the two sides will also cooperate in research and development of green, smart urban areas, as well as social housing projects in Lang Van and other areas.

The two sides will jointly seek mechanisms and policies for the development of free trade zones and financial centers, and consider the possibility of cooperation in technology research and development, investment in projects on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and training of high-quality human resources in the fields of science and technology.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh emphasized: "The signing of the cooperation agreement between the City People's Committee and Vingroup Corporation is of great significance in the green transformation process of the city. With the potential, experience and multi-industry ecosystem of Vingroup, along with the determination of the city government, I believe that this cooperation will open up many new opportunities, making practical contributions to the sustainable development of Da Nang."

Vice President of Vingroup, President of VinFast Global Le Thi Thu Thuy affirmed: “Today's signing ceremony is an important milestone opening a promising cooperation path between Da Nang city and Vingroup.

We look forward to accompanying the city on its green transformation journey, creating a sustainable living environment and improving the quality of life for its people. This cooperation agreement is expected to accelerate the green transformation process in Da Nang, improve the quality of life of its people and move towards sustainable development for future generations.”
