To commemorate the 37th anniversary of General Secretary Le Duan's passing (July 10, 1986), at 7:30 p.m. on July 9, a special art program will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater.

General Secretary Le Duan - A staunch communist soldier, a great theorist, thinker, and outstanding leader of our Party and people, who fought and sacrificed his whole life for the revolutionary cause of the nation, unification and integrity of the country. During 60 years of revolutionary activities, 26 consecutive years in the position of First Secretary and General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, General Secretary Le Duan devoted his whole life to the Party and the nation, for the noble ideal: an independent, unified Vietnam moving towards socialism, and the Vietnamese people having a free, prosperous, and happy life.
The name and career of General Secretary Le Duan will forever be recorded in the glorious history of the Party and the nation with the great victories of the Vietnamese revolution, especially in the historic days of liberating the South and unifying the country.
“ Brother Ba!/ At the age of eighty, you still live/ A life/ Noble/ Vibrant/ Like Truong Son/ Forever green/ Like the East Sea/ With its surging waves” (To Huu).
In memory of the 37th anniversary of General Secretary Le Duan's passing (July 10, 1986), a special art program will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater to commemorate comrade Le Duan, performed by the Bong Sen Folk Song and Dance Troupe and the Military Region 7 Art Troupe.
Mr. Le Khanh Hung, Director of the Central Party Office , grandson of General Secretary Le Duan, confided: "On the occasion of the 37th anniversary of his passing, his children and grandchildren, artists, relatives and uncles in the South as well as in his hometown of Quang Tri, Ha Tinh... are very eager to have an art night to commemorate him. I have confided this wish and asked for opinions from many leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, and they have all welcomed and enthusiastically supported us. We were very moved and determined to carry out the art program to commemorate General Secretary Le Duan, who was also the Father and Grandfather in our family."
The program includes 15 music and dance performances, harmonizing the traditional music with the Southern character of the Lotus Troupe and the modern music of the Military Region 7 Performing Arts; harmonizing the classical and semi-classical styles of the singers participating in the program such as People's Artist Quoc Hung, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Huong Giang...
Throughout the program, through the artistic voice, the revolutionary activities of General Secretary Le Duan appeared truly heroic, tragic and beautiful. From the years he lived in his homeland to the years of activities in the Southern land where he was the Secretary of the Regional Party Committee, then to the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign... were recreated in the most vivid way. In particular, the boundless love of the Southern people and our people for comrade Le Duan - beloved Anh Ba - was expressed emotionally through each song and singing voice. The lotus of Dong Thap seemed to be more vibrant, the name of Anh Ba Le Duan seemed to be more sparkling in the Mekong Delta.
The audience was especially moved by the song “Ba Dinh mot morning thu xa”, lyrics by Le Khanh Hung and music by female musician Quynh Hop:
How many years have passed since Uncle Ho left?
As if still vibrating in my heart
The words of Ba, the words of the country.
Ba Dinh Square on a distant autumn morning
Oh words more beautiful than any song
Raise your hand and swear we will move forward together
Brother Ba cried, millions of hearts cried together.
Million hearts beat to the same rhythm as yours...
The song evokes strong emotions about an autumn morning in Ba Dinh in the past, the country "shed tears, the sky poured rain" to send Uncle Ho off to the eternal place, resounding in thousands of hearts the oath of our people to follow the arms of General Secretary Le Duan, swearing to forever follow the path of beloved Uncle Ho. The image of Uncle Ho and Brother Ba Le Duan appearing in the song is truly sacred and touching.
The art program commemorating General Secretary Le Duan will be performed in Ho Chi Minh City and several other localities.
