Speaking at the congress, General Secretary To Lam said: “We are entering the dawn of the digital age, a period when data has become an important resource and means of production, becoming new energy, even the blood of the digital economy.”
Data-centric digital transformation is fundamentally changing the way we live, work and thrive. The opportunities and challenges of the digital age are on par with us. There are many opportunities and many challenges.
“Our task, especially the comrades and friends sitting here, of the National Data Association at this time is to find a way to shift the current balance, reduce challenges, lean towards opportunities, and increase opportunities,” said the General Secretary.
According to the General Secretary, in the digital age, not owning data means losing data security sovereignty and development opportunities. Digital transformation and data development are historic opportunities for Vietnam to make a breakthrough.
“I call on the entire business community, entrepreneurs, scientists, experts, agencies, organizations, and the whole society to join hands with the National Data Association to successfully carry out this mission.
The Party and State will create all favorable conditions and provide maximum support for the development of the data sector, so that Vietnam can soon become a digital nation, a digital society, and a prosperous digital economy," he called.
At the congress, many important contents were implemented such as: announcing the decision to establish the National Data Association (NDA); summarizing the establishment process, the association's charter and draft directions and tasks for the 2025-2030 term; introducing the executive committee and the inspection committee for the first term; announcing the association's logo; passing the congress resolution with high consensus from members.
General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, was elected as Chairman of the National Data Association. At the congress, Mr. Quang emphasized that the association will be a bridge between businesses, building a diverse and stable data ecosystem, meeting the requirements of sustainable digital transformation in all fields, creating a premise to bring the country into a new digital era.
During its first term, the association will focus on key activities: coordinating with relevant authorities, associations and organizations to disseminate national policies and laws on data; participating in contributing opinions to relevant legal documents; making recommendations and consulting with competent state agencies on issues related to the development of the data industry; supporting relevant authorities when requested.
The National Data Association has nearly 400 members.
