The workshop aims to support businesses, traders, and human resources in Hanoi to quickly grasp the necessary knowledge and skills in a systematic and methodical manner, with information guaranteed and continuously updated by Amazon Global Selling Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, contributing to bringing Vietnamese wood, handicraft, and textile products to the global market through cross-border e-commerce.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Director of the Center for E-commerce Development (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy) said that cross-border e-commerce is a booming trend in many countries around the world. In Vietnam, this is also a field that is assessed to have a lot of potential and is suitable for the digital economic development policy set forth by the Government. With a growth rate of 20% per year, Vietnam is ranked in the top 5 countries with the highest e-commerce growth rate in the world. The export value of Vietnamese enterprises selling on Amazon will increase by more than 45% in 2022.

In its role as a companion to businesses in bringing Vietnamese goods to the international market through cross-border e-commerce platforms, the Government has introduced policies to promote digital transformation and expand markets through online exports.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, in recent times, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy has been promoting the implementation of projects to support Vietnamese import-export enterprises to participate in e-commerce through providing trading opportunities for Vietnamese import-export enterprises on the Import-Export Information Portal vietnamexport.com; providing a platform to support Vietnamese import-export enterprises through the ecosystem ecvn.com; ifair.vn...

In addition, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy in collaboration with Amazon Global Selling implemented the initiative "Cross-border e-commerce: Breakthrough era" with the goal of supporting the development of cross-border e-commerce human resources for Vietnamese enterprises in the period of 2022 - 2026, thereby improving capacity and opening up export opportunities for local enterprises through e-commerce.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh added that in 2023 and the following years, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy will continue to organize training courses and practical activities with Amazon Global Selling to improve skills for Vietnamese businesses to confidently participate in cross-border e-commerce effectively.

A series of events with topics focusing on potential industries, sharing success stories and networking are expected. These activities promise to bring specific knowledge and information on cross-border e-commerce to Vietnamese businesses.

Sharing at the workshop, Ms. Do Hong Hanh, Director of Strategic Partnerships of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam, suggested that some Vietnamese product categories that are popular on Amazon include home decoration; blankets, mattresses, bed sheets; interior decoration; kitchen utensils, etc.

However, to conquer customers on Amazon, businesses should focus on strong products that suit the tastes of international consumers, especially products of natural origin combined with the sophistication and ingenuity of artisans.

In addition, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa, Senior Account Manager of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam, gave details about the roadmap for each seller to gradually approach, learn and successfully conquer strong products on Amazon.

In particular, one of the notable contents is the opportunity for new sellers on Amazon to receive a 5% refund of first-year sales for registered brands; save $200 on shipping costs when using FBA; and get a $200 discount on Vine products...

In addition, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa also emphasized practical perspectives related to Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of wood, handicrafts and textiles. Thereby, it aims to help enterprises understand more about the opportunities, identify difficulties and directions for success on the path to conquering cross-border e-commerce with Amazon.

The workshop also featured booths displaying products from businesses operating on the Amazon platform. This was to facilitate sellers to access product sources, understand the current situation of businesses/students, as well as promote opportunities for production cooperation and improve the export process between businesses.
