In the first two months of the year, the development of agriculture and forestry in the province was relatively stable. The total livestock herd was basically stable, the output of fresh meat for sale increased compared to the same period last year, fully meeting the food needs of the people.

The total buffalo herd in the province is estimated at over 106,380, up 0.2% over the same period last year; the output of fresh meat for slaughter is estimated at 231 tons, up 3% over the same period. The total cattle herd is estimated at 101,405, down 3.8% over the same period last year; the output of fresh meat for slaughter is estimated at 235 tons, up 5% over the same period. The total poultry herd is estimated at 3,109 thousand, up 4% over the same period last year; the output of fresh meat for slaughter is estimated at 729 tons, up 1.5% over the same period.
During the month, some diseases still occurred sporadically such as anthrax, African swine fever with 2 new outbreaks. From the beginning of the year to February 14, 2025, 341 pigs with a weight of 16,479 kg of 31 households/6 villages/4 communes of 3 districts and cities (including Hoa An, Bao Lac, Cao Bang city) were infected and destroyed. Currently, in the province, there are 2 outbreaks that have not passed 21 days in Huy Giap commune, Dinh Phung commune, Bao Lac district.
The work of moving livestock out from under the floors of houses has been directed with attention. By February 15, 2025, the whole province had moved 2,334/3,324 households, reaching 70.2% of the 2024 - 2025 plan. In February, the province experienced a prolonged cold spell, with a total of 61 livestock of all kinds damaged (including 40 buffaloes, 16 cows, 4 goats, and 1 horse).
Total aquatic product output in the first two months of the year is estimated at 42.38 tons, down 1.2% over the same period last year. Of which, exploited aquatic products reached 5.29 tons, up 100.9% over the same period last year (up 0.9%, up 0.05 tons); farmed aquatic products reached 37.09 tons, down 1.5% or down 0.56 tons over the same period last year.
In the coming time, all levels, sectors and localities will continue to direct people to implement measures to prevent and control diseases of crops and livestock; direct livestock production, prevent hunger and cold, vaccinate, and prevent diseases in livestock; and complete the target of relocating barns in the first quarter of 2025.
