Prime Minister: Long Thanh airport must be completed by December 31 at the latest, otherwise we will replace people

On the evening of March 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the site, urged, continued to grasp, remove difficulties and obstacles, and promote the progress of the Long Thanh airport project, with the basic determination to complete the project in 2025, earlier than before (completed in 2026). This is the 7th time the Prime Minister has directly inspected and directed this project.

Many items are being accelerated

Long Thanh International Airport (Dong Nai) is a national key project with a total capital of about 109,000 billion VND in phase 1. Component project 2 includes two main items: air traffic control tower and specialized equipment.

Component 3 project with an investment of 99,000 billion VND has package number 5.10 which is the passenger terminal. To ensure progress, the work of raising the steel structure of the central area of ​​the terminal is extremely important to determine the progress of the project.

The Ministry of Construction has directed specialized units to coordinate closely and at the same time sent a number of experienced experts to support ACV during the implementation process.

Component project 4 has selected investors to implement 6/6 priority items.

Speaking at the Long Thanh airport construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated the goal of basically completing the airport by December 31, 2025 at the latest. If the progress is not guaranteed, the staff will be replaced. At the same time, when the airport is completed, the connecting traffic projects must also be completed.

Deliver specific progress of items

For component project 2, the Prime Minister requested that the progress set for the bidding packages not be delayed. For component project 1 (headquarters of agencies), other ministries and branches basically met the progress. The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to fulfill its commitment, otherwise it will continue to review and handle responsibilities.

Regarding issues related to the construction of hangar areas (component project 4), the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Construction to decide and ensure equal access and fair competition among businesses and investors, putting national and ethnic interests first and foremost and competing to do well to complete assigned projects.

Welcoming the progress of the projects connecting T1 and T2, he requested the completion of the expressways connecting to Long Thanh airport. The Ministry of Construction should immediately study and find solutions to build a subway from Tan Son Nhat airport to Long Thanh airport.
