Poet and journalist Duong Xuan Nam - former Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper - passed away at 8:30 a.m. on February 25 in Hanoi, at the age of 77.

Poet and journalist Duong Ky Anh's real name is Duong Xuan Nam, former Editor-in-Chief Tien Phong newspaper, passed away at 8:30 am on February 25 in Hanoi, at the age of 77.

Journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper - expressed that journalist Duong Xuan Nam is a person who is eager for innovation, always promoting the agency's strength to implement new ideas, bringing Tien Phong to develop with the rhythm of life.

“Journalist Duong Xuan Nam left many marks in his position as Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper. He contributed to raising the position of Tien Phong Newspaper to become a leading political and social newspaper. Not only preserving the newspaper's tradition, journalist Duong Xuan Nam created new values, typically the Miss Vietnam contest. Since its first contest in 1988, the contest has increasingly affirmed its core values, scale, and positioned itself as the number one beauty contest in Vietnam,” emphasized journalist Phung Cong Suong. Journalist Duong Xuan Nam also made many contributions to the newspaper from facilities, content, event organization to journalism economics.

Grandfather Duong Xuan Nam Born in 1948 in Xuyen Cam village (now Tran Phu village), Ky Xuan commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province. He is a poet, writer, journalist, and member of the Vietnam Writers Association.

In 1972, after graduating from the University of Literature, he joined the Vietnam People's Army. In 1975, he worked at Tien Phong Newspaper.

In 1987, from the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, journalist Duong Xuan Nam was assigned to be Editor-in-Chief. Journalist Duong Xuan Nam is known as the initiator who brought the famous beauty contest for women to Vietnam. He took on the role of Head of the Organizing Committee and Chairman of the Jury of the contests. Miss Vietnam from 1988 to 2008.

He once shared: "Before becoming a journalist, I was a poet. I love beauty and always cherished doing something to honor the beauty of Vietnamese women. At the contest Miss Vietnam First, we do not set criteria on height but mainly emphasize facial beauty, balance, harmony of body and knowledge.

In the field of literature, he has many typical works such as And he waited (1987), An unfinished love story (1989), Miss and side stories of Miss Vietnam contests (1998), Little-told stories in the heart of Europe (2000), Second photo (2001)...
