As a school in the most remote and difficult area of Hoa Binh, Cao Son Primary and Secondary School still faces many difficulties, especially the school's clean water system is not of sufficient quality to fully meet the needs of the entire school, the toilets are degraded and unsafe. In particular, the sanitation facilities still lack a hand washing area with clean water and soap/disinfectant solution for students. Therefore, investing in renovating toilets and clean water systems will help ensure school hygiene conditions while spreading and attracting the participation of many other social resources to invest in the right direction for students to have a learning environment of "friendly school, healthy students".
From June/December 2024, the General Education Innovation Support Fund (VIGEF) in collaboration with MSD United Way Vietnam Social Enterprise, Viettel Money and the GIVENOW fundraising platform has officially launched the project "Creating happy schools - bringing joy to school and opportunities to access equal, modern education and comprehensive capacity development for 1,500 highland students in Hoa Binh, Yen Bai and Ha Giang" with a series of fundraising stages.
During June to July 2024, the project has been implementing Phase 1 of the "Full Water Ambassador" project, successfully raising funds of more than 100 million VND to support the renovation of 5 items to help 555 students of Cao Son school have water purifiers and cleaner toilets.
In addition, the project also organized the event "Abundant Water Ambassador" to create a fun summer playground, while communicating messages about using clean water properly, economically and protecting personal hygiene for students at Cao Son Primary and Secondary School.
Students were excited to learn about the importance of clean water, drinking water boiled at 100 degrees Celsius, how to protect and save clean water, and the 6 steps to wash hands according to the standards of the Ministry of Health...
Also on the occasion of the event "Ambassador of Abundant Water", sponsors coordinated with the Department of Education of Da Bac district to organize the giving of more than 5,000 gifts to highland students of schools in Da Bac district.
Viettel Money representative, Mr. Pham Thai Son participated in the event and interacted with the students and committed to accompany in building happy schools. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to making a big change for society. Viettel Money hopes to receive the cooperation and support of Viettel people for the goal of creating a new life, bringing better development opportunities for children in remote areas.
Happy schools can be lofty things, but they can also be very simple for the children in mountainous areas and ethnic minorities with difficult circumstances that the project has encountered during its field trips, surveying the construction of happy schools and equitable education across Vietnam.
Mr. Dang Tu An, Director of VIGEF shared: I really hope that the small lessons, the initial support for improving clean water and sanitation will help meet the basic conditions for schools in the process of creating a safe and complete learning environment for students in the process of building happy schools. Happy schools bring joy to students, so these small joys will contribute to a sense of happiness, motivating them to go to school and optimize their potential.
Kitchen renovation for students
Phase 2 of the project, which will be launched from July to August 2024, will continue “Building happy schools: Renovating kitchens for 605 students”.
"Khao Mang Ethnic Minority Boarding School, Yen Bai", aims to improve the quality of the communal dining hall and kitchen, thereby ensuring "Full meals" for ethnic minority students at Khao Mang Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, Khao Mang Commune, Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai.
