Author of the Vietnamese Heroic Mother Monument presents two impressive works

Introduced to the public for the first time, two sculptures by artist Dinh Gia Thang - who won the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022 (with the monument of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers) made a strong impression.

Appearing at the exhibition Da Nang 50 years - Aspiration to rise up opened by the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Da Nang City on the afternoon of March 23, the works Melody of the Fish Season and The Era of Rising Up by sculptor Dinh Gia Thang (who won the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022 with the monument of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers located in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam) made the public admire.

Mr. Dinh Gia Thang said that both works are made of cast aluminum and were created between 2024 and early 2025.

Sculpture Melody of the Fishing Season with graceful shapes

The work Melody of the Fishing Season is 122 cm high, 172 cm wide, and 68 cm thick, expressing the happiness of fishermen in the Central region during a good fishing season, with the image of 3 men and 1 woman standing sideways, casting a net.

On the boat with typical Central features, below are stylized ocean wave details in traditional sculpture style, combined with modern style.

Sculptor Dinh Gia Thang brings 2 new works to the exhibition

In the exhibition, the work Rising Era (just completed by sculptor Dinh Gia Thang last January) received the attention of a large audience of visual art lovers.

Mr. Thang said that this is a contemporary sculpture mixed with symbolic and iconic styles.

Accordingly, the statue is 125 cm high, 95 cm long, 95 cm wide, and is represented in a circular layout with 5 hands, symbolizing Vietnam's friendship with friends from 5 continents around the world. The 5 hands are stylized like robot hands - symbolizing the trend of modernization, automation, and application of the latest technologies with the use of artificial intelligence AI.

The Era Round Statue impresses me with the image of robotic hands.

The overall composition is lines and shapes that both roll in like a sphere and pop up like they dominate the top of the whole block, the rhythm seems to be in harmony with heaven, earth, and the universe, symbolizing Vietnam's strong rise to the world's great powers.

Observing the entire Rising Era, one can see that it is a flexible block with a special structure of solid and hollow blocks, creating an emotional association of continuous movement, the country's strong acceleration, and the flexibility of Vietnam.

About the strings with small round beads to create a flexible and tight rhythm with the composition of the work but also express the idea of ​​information connection, through transmission lines in the digital age, in the new era.

The work "The Age of Rising" expresses the aspiration of the Vietnamese people to rise up.

" The Rising Era is a work that I really like in the context of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification. The work expresses the aspiration and will of the Vietnamese people to move towards a new era. It is a breakthrough era to bring the country to new heights, making Vietnam a world power," said sculptor Dinh Gia Thang.

At this exhibition, in addition to the image of the monument of the Vietnamese Heroic Mother in the form of an image (awarded the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022), sculptor Dinh Gia Thang also displayed images: the Truong Son Legend monument; the Dien Ngoc Brave Soldier monument; the Kham Duc Victory monument; Phan Huynh Dieu - the musician of love songs...

Sculptor Dinh Gia Thang added that if the Rising Era were enlarged to a height of about 5 meters with a pedestal about 1 meter high and placed in a large space that could be observed in multiple directions, the best visual effect would be created.
