The total volume of imported and exported goods through Mong Cai city reached over 513,100 tons, an increase of 66.1% over the same period last year. An important factor helping Mong Cai city's import and export activities flourish in the first quarter of 2025 is the effort to attract businesses to the area to carry out customs clearance of goods. According to statistics, at this time, 720 businesses have registered to carry out customs procedures in the area (an increase of 128 businesses compared to the same period last year), including 515 businesses from other provinces.

In addition, Mong Cai city put the laboratory at Bac Luan II Inspection Site into operation, meeting the requirement of rapid testing of seafood products before export, helping to reduce the rate of goods being rejected or destroyed due to not meeting standards.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, representative of the Export Goods Testing and Inspection Center, said that the Lab has an area of over 400m2 and the first phase of the center has been completed and the machinery system installed to serve domestic seafood products.

“At the end of April, the center will complete the installation of a system of machines to test for O-yellow and Cadmium for fruit products. The preliminary results between the center's lab and the lab of the Chinese Customs are basically the same, so when exporting products, they almost never have to return to the place of export,” Mr. Dung affirmed.

In 2025, Mong Cai city aims to collect about 2,800 - 3,000 billion VND in state budget revenue from import-export activities, the highest level ever. Mr. Ho Quang Huy, Chairman of Mong Cai City People's Committee, said that he has worked with infrastructure and trade enterprises to adjust and reduce warehouse rental costs and logistics infrastructure service prices to attract businesses together with the city. The city also adjusted administrative procedures to shorten customs clearance time and reduce costs for businesses.

“Mong Cai City has worked with businesses in areas with high growth potential. Through this, businesses have committed to adjusting costs, reducing warehouse rental infrastructure services, and continuing to accompany the city in attracting import and export goods to the Mong Cai - Dong Hung border gate pair to increase export turnover, thereby contributing to export tax growth in 2025,” said Mr. Huy.

Mong Cai City is gradually asserting its position as an important logistics and import-export center in the northern border region. Positive signals in import-export activities are creating momentum for Mong Cai to complete the target of achieving a growth rate of 19% this year.
