Attracting overseas Vietnamese to contribute to national construction in the new era

On the afternoon of March 24, in Hanoi, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs - Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UBNNVNVNONN) held a press conference to inform about a number of activities organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese for overseas Vietnamese in the second quarter.

Continue to raise awareness of honoring the beauty and value of the Vietnamese language

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Manh Dong said that the launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Language Honor Day and the Contest to Find Vietnamese Language Ambassadors Abroad this year is about to take place.

This activity aims to implement the Project "Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the Vietnamese Community Abroad for the period 2023-2030" and the Plan for Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the Vietnamese Community Abroad in 2025; continue to widely propagate, launch and organize activities in response to Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the community, raise awareness of preserving the national language, honoring the beauty and value of Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community abroad.

Return to the roots, pay tribute to ancestors

This year, the Overseas Vietnamese Association said it will organize a program for the Overseas Vietnamese Delegation to attend the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (10th of the 3rd lunar month), demonstrating the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking" of our nation.

This is an activity to strengthen the connection between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland, promote the tradition of turning to their roots and showing gratitude to their ancestors; thereby, contributing to preserving and promoting good cultural values ​​in the Vietnamese community around the world, strengthening and consolidating the great national unity bloc.

This year, the overseas Vietnamese delegation will also visit the historical site of Tan Trao, the country's resistance capital, as well as give charity gifts. And especially in Tuyen Quang, the overseas Vietnamese delegation will have a meeting with overseas Vietnamese families from Thailand and Tan Dao who have returned home and are living here.

The Great Unity Train

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong said that in recent years, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has coordinated with the Navy to organize the program "Overseas Vietnamese delegation visits soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district and DKI platform".

He said the activity was organized since 2012 with about 1,000 overseas Vietnamese delegates visiting the military and people of Truong Sa island district.

In 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee will continue to coordinate with the Navy and relevant agencies to organize a special train trip, "The Great Solidarity Train", to bring overseas Vietnamese delegations to visit and encourage the soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district and DKI Platform in April.

These activities demonstrate the spirit of great national solidarity between compatriots at home and abroad, between people and soldiers on Truong Sa island district and at the platforms, deepening the relationship between the army and people during the period of national construction and development.

At the same time, the activities clearly demonstrate the role and contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation; arouse and strengthen awareness of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Vietnam's seas and islands, propagate the Party and State's policy of protecting the Fatherland and peaceful and friendly foreign relations; affirm Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

Strengthening national unity

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to organize a number of activities for overseas Vietnamese.

Accordingly, the activities organized for overseas Vietnamese on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day have great significance and important purposes, demonstrating the honor of values ​​and arousing the national spirit, creating opportunities for overseas Vietnamese to look back at the nation's heroic past, pay tribute to those who sacrificed for the nation's freedom and independence, enhance awareness of protecting sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity; at the same time, consolidate the great national unity bloc, tighten the relationship between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland, affirming that, wherever they are, all Vietnamese people share the same blood, history and culture.

The activities also meet the wishes of a large number of overseas Vietnamese who want to participate in important events and national holidays; express gratitude and respect for the indispensable role and contribution of overseas Vietnamese in the cause of resistance, national defense, national unification and current socio-economic development; create conditions for people to witness the development of the country with their own eyes, thereby creating a positive spread in the community, creating a new step in the work of closely connecting the overseas Vietnamese community with the cause of national construction and development.

Promote product introduction and develop distribution channels for Vietnamese products abroad.

Also in April, there will be a conference to promote overseas Vietnamese resources, summarizing 5 years of the Project "Mobilizing overseas Vietnamese to participate in introducing, consuming products and developing distribution channels for Vietnamese goods abroad" according to Decision No. 1797/QD-TTg dated December 12, 2019 of the Prime Minister. The conference is expected to be held during April 26-28 in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.

The conference is an opportunity to comprehensively and quantitatively evaluate the results achieved, the shortcomings, limitations, and causes in the implementation of the Project, and draw lessons and new approaches in promoting distribution channels and introducing Vietnamese goods abroad.

At the same time, this is an opportunity to promote connections between domestic enterprises and Vietnamese businessmen abroad, expand the distribution network of Vietnamese goods abroad, and promote the role of the Vietnamese community in introducing Vietnamese goods to the world.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong said that the Vietnamese community abroad has always made positive contributions to the economic development of the country in recent times with the common goal of the development and prosperity of the country.

In the "era of national development", people continue to join hands to support, contribute to, and implement the policies of the Party and State. Party and State leaders always respect and acknowledge the positive contributions of people.
