Kera vegetable candy product recalled, fined 125 million VND

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety conducted a surprise inspection of the company's headquarters at Street 11, Ward 5, An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City, and discovered that the Supergreens Gummies food supplement product had an incomplete label. Specifically, the label was missing the phrase "net weight", the apple flavor ingredient did not clearly state the origin (natural, synthetic or artificial), and the citric acid additive did not list the group of substances according to regulations.

At the time of inspection, the company had 16 boxes of Supergreens Gummies. Samples were sent to the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene for testing, and the results showed that the product contained the sweetener sorbitol, but it was not listed on the label. This substance has laxative properties and aids digestion.

In addition, the actual nutritional indicators do not match the declared information, such as the energy level, sugar content, sodium, and carbohydrates that deviate from the product label.

The company is required to recall the violating product and adjust the product label according to regulations before continuing to circulate. At the same time, the company must recall and destroy the violating product label, or destroy or change the product's intended use if it is impossible to separate the violating label.

The enterprise must also pay back an amount equivalent to the value of the exhibits and means of administrative violations that have been sold, dispersed or destroyed in violation of regulations. In addition, the company is required to withdraw the self-declaration for the self-declared products.

Kera vegetable candy, announced by Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company (CER), will be launched on the market at the end of 2024. The candy is advertised by KOLs such as Miss Thuy Tien, Hang Du Muc, and Quang Linh Vlog.
