On the morning of March 24 in Hanoi, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, co-chaired talks with Mr. Pawel Bejda, Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Poland, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
At the talks, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, perseveres in the "Four No's" Defense Policy, and persistently struggles to resolve all disputes and disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of international law.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien also affirmed that Vietnam's consistent stance on resolving the East Sea issue is that relevant parties need to comply with international law and customs, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), comply with the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and promote the early conclusion of negotiations and the signing of the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC) in a practical and effective manner.
Regarding bilateral defense cooperation, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien expressed his joy that the two countries have achieved many positive results based on the effective implementation of the Agreement on bilateral defense cooperation (signed in 2010), notably in areas such as delegation exchange, training, United Nations peacekeeping, defense industry, etc.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is ready to receive soldiers from the Republic of Poland to study Vietnamese at the Academy of Military Science and attend international courses at the National Defense Academy.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should focus on consolidating and perfecting the frameworks and mechanisms of bilateral defense cooperation, continue to promote delegation exchanges at all levels to enhance understanding, trust and promote defense cooperation in line with the overall Vietnam - Poland relationship, strengthen cooperation in training, United Nations peacekeeping; defense industry, military medicine, exchanges of young officers of the two countries...
At the same time, he requested the Republic of Poland to continue supporting cooperation activities between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) in the defense sector, in line with the framework of the Agreement signed between Vietnam and the EU, and called on the Republic of Poland to voice its support for the EU to soon remove the yellow card on Vietnamese seafood.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Poland for providing Vietnam with scholarships in the Republic of Poland.
For his part, Mr. Pawel Bejda, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Poland, thanked the Vietnamese side for the warm welcome. Mr. Pawel Bejda expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam in his capacity as Deputy Minister of Defense and Member of the Polish Parliament.
Mr. Pawel Bejda emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner of Poland in the Southeast Asian region, so Poland promotes relations with Vietnam not only in the economic field but also in the defense field, especially cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping, defense industry, training, etc.
Mr. Pawel Bejda hopes that through today's talks, the two countries will develop better in the defense field.
