Domestic coffee prices continue to fall

In the domestic market, updated at 5:00 a.m. on February 5, 2025, domestic coffee prices witnessed a sharp downward adjustment after peaking the previous day, currently fluctuating at an average of VND 128,100/kg, down VND 2,500/kg.

In key production areas in the Central Highlands, the highest price recorded was VND 128,200/kg. A decrease of VND 2,500/kg was recorded in localities such as Dak Lak with VND 128,000/kg, Lam Dong traded at VND 127,200/kg, Gia Lai reached VND 128,000/kg and Dak Nong stood at VND 128,200/kg.

With this trend, domestic coffee prices are likely to lose the 130,000 VND/kg mark set during Tet. Many growers are wondering whether prices will continue to fall to 115,000 VND/kg as at the end of November 2024 or whether this is just a short-term adjustment before bouncing back?

According to expert analysis, coffee prices may continue to decline in the trading session on February 6, 2025 before having a chance to recover to the price range of 130,000 VND/kg. Closely monitoring market fluctuations will help investors make reasonable trading decisions in the coming time.

Although the coffee output of the last crop decreased by 15% due to the impact of the weather, thanks to high prices, many farmers in the Central Highlands still achieved good incomes. The global coffee consumption trend and strong investment in the supply chain by Vietnamese enterprises contributed to the strong increase in export value.

Even compared to 2022 – when China was still closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic – the volume of pepper exported to this market was also lower.

The sharp decline caused China to drop from Vietnam's largest pepper consumer in 2023 to fifth place in 2024, with its market share falling sharply to 4.2% compared to 22.6% the previous year.
