Choose the "pioneer" path
At the conference, journalist To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, shared about the development journey of the "FOR VIP READERS" column of the Newspaper. Emphasizing that charging for electronic newspapers is an inevitable trend, Mr. To Dinh Tuan said that this is a very difficult journey, but Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper chose the "pioneering" path in this field. As the first press agency with a printed newspaper to implement charging for electronic newspapers from July 2022, up to now, the Newspaper has left many impressions on readers with 300 high-quality press products, meeting the needs of life and requirements of readers.
Journalist To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, shared at the conference.
"We determined that if we were to take the lead, it would be very difficult, but from that difficulty, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper would make a strong impression" - Editor-in-Chief To Dinh Tuan said.
According to the Editor-in-Chief of the Lao Dong Newspaper, press agencies that balance their own revenues and expenditures, both fulfill the political tasks assigned by the Party and the State and produce press products that meet the needs of life and readers' requests, will help those agencies become more mature. For the Lao Dong Newspaper, implementing the press fee collection activity with the column "FOR VIP READERS" with many difficulties and challenges, has helped the newspaper's cadres, civil servants and employees become more mature.
In the general trend of the press, Editor-in-Chief To Dinh Tuan said that the number of readers of printed newspapers may decrease, and distribution will become increasingly difficult. That requires promoting the distribution of electronic newspaper products, products on digital platforms, and implementing electronic newspaper fee collection as the Lao Dong Newspaper has been doing for over 2 years.
Representatives of press agencies exchanged professional knowledge at the conference.
With the column "FOR VIP READERS", Editor-in-Chief To Dinh Tuan said that the orientation of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper is to continue to promote in the coming time with quality, unique, novel, and exclusive press products to serve readers. "When readers spend money to buy electronic newspaper products, they will really appreciate that product. From that source of revenue, we have the orientation to move towards paying higher remuneration to the authors of those high-quality works" - Editor-in-Chief To Dinh Tuan said about the plan to develop the column "FOR VIP READERS" in the coming time.
According to Editor-in-Chief To Dinh Tuan, "if you don't go, there is no road, if you don't go, you won't get there". That is also the spirit of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper in implementing electronic newspaper fee collection, determined to start from the first steps. Mr. To Dinh Tuan clearly stated that each press agency has a different way of doing electronic newspaper fee collection, but all aim to create quality press products to serve the increasing needs of readers.
Delegates take souvenir photos
Editor-in-Chief To Dinh Tuan said that for the electronic newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong in general, the newspaper has been persistent in changing and innovating every year, improving its quality in many aspects. Compared to some press agencies with strong potential, Mr. To Dinh Tuan said that the unit with limited resources has implemented digital transformation in an appropriate way, keeping up with the pace and progressing together.
"If we wait until we have enough funds to do it, we will probably never be able to do digital transformation" - Mr. To Dinh Tuan said and said that the way the Newspaper does it is with little budget but great effort to convert the newspaper digitally. From that effort, the CMS system and the Newspaper's interface have changed a lot, much better than before.
In addition, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper is also promoting the application of artificial intelligence in journalism activities such as analyzing user and reader data, supporting digital newsrooms.
